Gilbert

Mr. John Hoyt Gilbert, age 91, of Powder Springs, passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2005. He was born on October 29, 1913 in Sand Mountain, Alabama to the late Andrew and Lelia Gilbert. He was a retired superintendent from Coats and Clark where he worked for 45 years. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Mr. Gilbert was a Mason and a past Master of the Bartlett Lodge in Hiram. He was also a past patron of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Lucy Arnold Gilbert; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Brenda Gilbert of Powder Springs; a brother and sister-in-law, W. L. (Bill) and Pat Gilbert of Duluth, GA; sisters and brother-in-law, Nola Smith of Shreveport, LA, June Leggett of Snellville, GA and Reba and Arthur Smith of Lilburn, GA; grandsons, Chris A. and Yvette Gilbert and Brian M. and Cindy Gilbert; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Tyler, Deanna and Alyssa Gilbert; nieces and nephews, cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 11, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. from Bethel United Methodist Church with Dr. Gil Watson, Reverend Harry Hawkins and Mr. Frazier Yeager officiating. The interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 1444 Bethel Church Rd, Hiram, GA 30141. Clark Funeral Home in Hiram, GA in charge of arrangements.
