Must have been an emotional wave goodbye for you. God Bless you, your family, especially your dad, and all those who left with him, in the days and months to come.

I wasn't there but you and your family will be in our prayers. At what school do you play the flute at, my daughter plays it at PCHS.

flutebandgeek2008,

I know you said that you aren't after a pity party, but if you want to, you go ahead, we understand. I have never had to go through this, but I bet it is rough knowing your father is going so far away. He is in my prayers, as well as you and the rest of the family.

It takes a great person to do something like this at a time like this.

I wish I had seen this on TV, but I rarely even turn my tv on. It is distracting whenever I am trying to read (pcom). blush.gif biggrin.gif

flutebandgeek2008, with my work I travel to many military bases. I have witnessed the transformation from community to ghost town as a unit is deployed. It is hard for me to imagine what you are going through as you say goodbye to your dad for such a long time.

When one learns of a story like yours it is hard to justify sending so many of our service men and women over seas and causing so much disruption in families like yours. But, in the end I know that the pain and hardship that you experience today will make you a stronger person.

Just remember that you have an extended family in your community. I'll keep you and you dad in my prayers.

For those of you interested, here is a story and video clip regarding the 108th deployment.
"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.''

I was on my way to a business meeting in Douglasville yesterday when I got caught up in the traffic. Of course, I was afraid I would be late to my meeting, but when I saw all thepeople with their signs, I figured it out. I didn't care then if I was late or not!!

You and all the families left behind will be in my prayers, as well as the soldiers who will be going to Iraq.

FBG2008,

I understand what you are going through but, from a wife's point of view. Everytime I see loved ones kissing and hugging military personal goodbye, because of a deployment I tear-up. It brings back all the feelings I had everytime I had to hug and kiss my hubby goodbye for his deployments. The hardest one I had is when he was shipped off to the first Gulf War. He was in the Navy and it was so hard to watch his ship sail off.

Be strong FBG2008....and please know You are forever in my thoughts and prayers.

You know you can come to my house anytime. Your other G Mama will be happy to do what I can for you. Be strong!
I know you believe you understand what you think I said, but I am not sure if you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.
