Denton

Mr. Willis W. (Billy) Denton, age 84, of Dallas, passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2004. He was born on February 25, 1920 in Paulding Co. to the late Homer Samuel and Anna Buford Denton. He was a tool designer for Lockheed for 33 years, retiring in 1986. He was an Army veteran and a member of New Georgia Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Minnie Denton; a son, Willis Michael Denton of Douglasville (Paulding Co.); a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Sammy Newman of Douglasville (Paulding Co.); a sister, Florence McCollum of Lithia Springs; grandchildren, Shannon Newman, Alissa Velazquez, Dana Laubrich, Rita Warren and Billy Denton; great-grandchildren, Skyler Newman, Cole Newman, Jada Velazquez and Jana Warren; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. from New Georgia Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Burdette officiating. Mr. Denton will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. The interment will follow in the church cemetery with Billy Denton, Shannon Denton, Don Sheffield, J. P. Denton, Billy Abernathy and Jack Cole serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Clark Funeral Home in Hiram in charge of arrangements.
