My daughter and 11 of her fellow band members at PCHS made District Honor Band. The band members are chosen by judges, who judge the musicians on their scales (she had to play 9 from memory), an atude (a piece of music written by the Georgia Music Educators Association) and sight read a piece of music (that is where you are given a piece of music that you have never seen before and you have a couple of minutes to review it and then play it once for the judges).

Several of the students have been to District Honor Band before - my daughter made it in her 8th grade year also. The students can also be selected to go to All State - which means they are chosen to audition at the state level. We are not sure yet from our school who was chosen.

Our region stretches from PC to Alabama up to Tenn - there are 14 counties in our district.

The kids will go to Calhoun in February and learn music and then perform. It is a great experience to for the kids.

Way to go PCHS!!!!!

I'm not collegegal, but she is one of my best friends. Her son goes to Austin. We are really proud of him. He is only one of a few 7th graders there to make it this year. He is also in jazz band and is doing great.

That is great that they have jazz band in middle school. Music is such a wonderful influence on my daughter. She loves all kinds. From musicals, to Queen, to Country and Tom Jones!
