She has been downgraded from critical to stable; puncture wound to left hand, broken left arm. Sister said she was amazed her left leg was not broken, because it looked terrible. She is having CT scan of left hip now. They don't think it's broken, but they do think it may have dislocated or she may have a cracked or minor hip fracture. She's shaken up, and is badly bruised and/or cut everywhere - below the neck.

Her name is Hillary Delay. She had surgery on her hand last night, which was indeed broken. Her left arm is also broken. Her left hip and left leg are broken as well. Doctors say they will not put a cast on her leg, because she will not be walking for at least 3 months. She needs surgery on her left hip, but doctors will wait until next Monday for that...because her body has just been through too much trauma for surgery right now. Results of MRI show no internal injuries. Doctors said CT scan shows her brain shifted to the right due to the impact, but will shift back on it's own. She is at Kennestone.

Thanks everyone for your concern and prayers. This could have been much worse.

UPDATE: FRIDAY, AUGUST 10 7:50 AM

Her sister called this morning and said the hospital called and saying that they were taking Hillary into surgery. They said they couldn't wait any longer. They had to stop the bleeding in her hip and they were going to repair it while they were in there.

Hillary is improving daily. She is improving faster than they anticipated. Monday they were talking about sending her home in an ambulance and setting her up in a hospital bed. Now they think she will be able to go home with a wheelchair and walker. Yesterday they moved her to the rehabilitation floor to start intensive therapy. They are trying to figure out how she is going to get around and function. Her left leg, hip, and arm are broken…her right ankle and wrist are badly sprained. She has this walker contraption where she straps down her broken arm and uses her right elbow to bear her weight. They told her Monday she would be there from 7-10 days….but we are hoping she will get to go home Friday. (Information from my friend, and Hillary's sister, Holly.)

UPDATE: FRIDAY AUGUST 17

Hillary may get to go home tonight…or tomorrow. She will have another evaluation today to determine if she can be released into her sister's and husband's custody. They are meeting with the a nurse, a physical therapist, and an occupational therapist today so they can teach them how to take care of her. (Information from my friend and Hillary's sister, Holly.)
