  3. Paulding Defendant Sentenced to Two Consecutive Life Sentences for 2002 Double Murder On September 27th 2019, Paulding Superior Court Judge T. David Lyles sentenced Andrew Shadrix to the maximum punishment possible for the 2002 murder of Jeffrey Jackson and Shad English. In September of 2002, Jeffrey and Shad were shot to death; their bodies were put in the trunk of a car and driven to Fulton County. An extensive investigation was conducted by multiple law enforcement agencies but no charges were brought at the time of the murder. Following new leads, Deputies with the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office working with the Paulding County District Attorney’s Office, took up the investigation. These efforts resulted in the Defendant giving a full confession. The 2002 sentencing provisions do not allow for a sentence of life without the possibility of parole. At the sentencing hearing, the State, through Chief Assistant District Attorney Matthew Rollins, requested the maximum punishment possible and Judge Lyles agreed. Andrew Shadrix was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences. This means that the second life sentence will not start until after the first. While we can never bring back the victims of this senseless act of violence, we hope that this brings some level of closure to the victim’s families. We would like to thank the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, the Atlanta Police Department, the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office, the Cobb County Police Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for the hard work and dedication they have shown in this case.

  7. BREAKING: Body found in burning car in Paulding County Deputies and firefighters made the discovery just before 1 p.m. after someone called 911 and reported a car fire, according to sheriff’s office spokesman Tyler McSwain. When officials extinguished the burning car in the 2100 block of Vinson Mountain Crossing in Rockmart, they found a body inside. The sheriff’s office is investigating the incident as a murder and arson, McSwain said.
  8. Paulding board seeking answers about legality of not giving studio sales proceeds to bond payer Can a county authority formed to recruit new industry legally use the money from a sale of a building if someone else has been repaying the loan used to build it? Or must it give the money to the governing body which backed the bond financing used to build the facility? County Attorney Jayson Phillips said he is working to find what state law requires in such cases after County Commissioner Ron Davis asked him to research the issue during a public hearing on the county budget Tuesday, July 23. “I have been asked to review that legal issue by the Board of Commissioners and am in the process of conducting that review” Phillips told a reporter Thursday, July 25. The hearing had evolved into a public debate on whether the Paulding County Industrial Building Authority owed the $4 million it received from the recent sale of its movie studio in Hiram to the Paulding County government. The county government has been repaying the bond since 2016 after the building authority found it did not have the revenue from assets like the movie studio to make the payments. Paulding County owes more than $6 million on the original $7.9 million bond, which included $5.5 million to build the studio. The remainder was for construction of a water tower and hangar at Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport. Citizen activist Sue Wilkins said the Georgia Constitution required the proceeds be returned to the county government to repay the 2011 bond issue used to build the Atlanta Film Studios Paulding County in Hiram in 2012. 9. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Monday, July 22, 2019 Paulding County man indicted for producing child pornography ATLANTA, Ga. – Thomas Cwik has been arraigned on federal charges of producing, distributing, receiving, and possessing child pornography. “Cwik allegedly produced, distributed, and collected images portraying the sexual exploitation and abuse of young children,” said U.S. Attorney Byung J. “BJay” Pak. “It is imperative that we continue target and prosecute sexual predators who victimize children.” “Child pornography production is, plainly speaking, the filming of child rape. In this case Mr. Cwik allegedly victimized numerous children,” said HSI Atlanta Special Agent in Charge Nick S. Annan. “I want to commend our law enforcement partners, including the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office for a quick multi-agency effort which resulted in Cwik’s arrest. Homeland Security Investigations is committed to investigating and seeking prosecution of these cases as one the agency’s highest priorities.” According to U.S. Attorney Pak, the charges, and other information presented in court: Federal agents determined that Thomas Cwik allegedly traded child pornography online with another individual in January 2019. Agents executed a search warrant at Cwik’s home in April 2019 and found multiple digital devices containing hundreds of images and videos of child pornography. They also discovered that Cwik allegedly engaged in sex acts with a minor child in Cobb County, Georgia and captured his sexual abuse of that child on two videos taken on each instance of abuse. Thomas Cwik, 31, of Powder Springs, Georgia, was arraigned before U.S. Magistrate Judge Linda T. Walker. Cwik was indicted by a federal grand jury on July 9, 2019. Members of the public are reminded that the indictment only contains charges. The defendant is presumed innocent of the charges and it will be the government’s burden to prove the defendant’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt at trial. Anyone with information, or who may have been a victim in this case, please contact the Paulding Sheriff’s Juvenile Investigations Division at 770-445-6105 or U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations at 404-346-2831. This case is being investigated by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jill E. Steinberg, Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division, is prosecuting the case. This case is being brought as part of Project Safe Childhood. In February 2006, the Attorney General launched Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorney’s Offices around the country, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children. For more information about Project Safe Childhood, please visit www.projectsafechildhood.gov. For further information please contact the U.S. Attorney’s Public Affairs Office at USAGAN.PressEmails@usdoj.gov or (404) 581-6016. 10. My story is as important as those that have gone years without diagnosis and suffering under debilitating, multiple, health issues. The word is finally getting out now that famous people have had the disease. I have tried hard to spread the word here in my home town as much as possible. Many don't know this but I could have gotten the proper testing and treatment from day one. I did not, which caused a relapse. I suffered many of the symptoms that long term infected people do. All I had to do was to lie and say I had been anywhere but Georgia. Because of the belief it is not here my classic symptoms down to the bullseye rash were ignored. Why did I refuse to lie? Because lying would have allowed 1000's of others in the state to be denied testing and treatment. We still have 1000's here being denied!! I eventually recovered, I have some lasting residual damage to my nervous system. I contracted the disease again last year. I went in as soon as I was sure. I still did not get the treatment needed as protocol said 2 weeks only of doxy would cure me. I expected that, saw another doctor and finally recovered. Why is my good luck story as important as the horrible condition many patients are in? Because it is not luck!!! I was fortunate enough to live in a state that required reporting of health officials that treated patients with Lyme disease. The doctors received education and most importantly the public did. I can not force mandatory reporting or educating doctors in this state. What I can do is educate all those in my circle and beg them to share and beg others to share. Because I have been outspoken I get multiple messages and calls from people that think they have it and can't even get a test, sometimes even with a tick and a bullseye rash. What is the difference between an educated public and uneducated? In the northeast I would have been tested immediately and placed on antibiotics. I would have never gotten as sick as I did. For now my family protects itself when possible by bagging and tagging and freezing the tick. Why? because the blood test are unreliable, the doctors are uneducated, but you can not deny the bacteria in a tick under the microscope. I am including a link with additional info. If you suspect you have the disease you can print pages to take to your doctor. If I could I would print the info and place it in the hands of every doctor in this state to stop the needless suffering. Please take a few minutes to educate yourself on the symptoms. Many never see the tick because it is a nymph the size of a head of a pin. Only about 30% have the rash. The first symptom for many is horrible fatigue. As we share our stories in the forums we are also discovering that many people have different body parts effected first. Any injury or weak organ is sometimes effected first. Injuries that won't heal or organs that don't respond to treatment such as your respiratory system. If you could read day after day the suffering I see on the forums you would be horrified at how sick many are after years of denied testing and treatment here in Georgia! 11. When should a young man come in for a tuxedo fitting for Prom 2015? Now, or as soon as possible! He shouldn't procrastinate, but instead he should plan to come in as soon as there is an opportunity. If you're the parent/grandparent of the guy who will be going to prom, why not help him out with the process? First, go to our website to get directions http://kingtuxrentals.com/directions.html Print the directions and give them to him. Find out how much the "out-the-door" price is going to be. We can tell you upfront, and give you an all-inclusive price. If the nation-wide chainstores won't give you a straight answer about price, it's because they want you to come to their store before sticker-shocking you. We have 3 main price points for prom. First is our black-and-white special. It's a black tux with white shirt, black statin vest and bow tie, shirt studs and cufflinks and shoes for $99.99. This is our best tux, but we know that some folks are on a budget. Plus the traditional black-and-white look goes with anything! Additionally, our dark chocolate brown tux is on special for $99.99 (All-Inclusive). It comes with shoes and in-stock brown-toned accessories. Next is a black tuxedo with your choice of colored accessories (vest and tie or bow tie). Everything, including shoes, is $129.99. The only other price-point that we have is for colored tuxes like the white dinner jacket look, grey or navy tuxes, or any other special order complete tuxedo order - $159.99 which of course, includes shoes. Most guys, frankly, choose the middle price-point because they want to color-coordinate with their dates. Here's a really good idea for guys going to prom. Purchase a pocket square to put in your jacket pocket. We'll fold it for you, if you like! If you take your jacket off, it's more likely that you'll be able to identify your own jacket if it has a matching/coordinating pocket square in it! It would also signal to someone else who picks yours up that it's not HIS jacket. At King Tux Rentals, pocket squares are just $5.50. It will save the guys a trip (assuming that they want to coordinate colors) if they can come with their dates and bring the dress in. Make sure that the guy has black socks for a black tux and he's pretty much ready to go! We accept cash or credit/debit, but if you pay in cash you'll still need to provide a card number for us to use as security - the same as you'd have to do at all rental places. If you need additional information, you can go to our website http://kingtuxrentals.com or call us. We're happy to help! (678) 401-4999
