  1. A friend who lives in Paulding Woods had to retrieve his wife from Douglasville this morning and told me Bakers Bridge is open
  2. As of noon, Brownsville Rd, Pine Valley Rd, Hwy 92 (at least from Pine Valley Rd to Hiram) are open. I don't recommend driving if you don't have 4x4, you'll have to dodge a few abandoned vehicles and I saw 2wd's struggle to get traction after stopping at red lights.
  3. Brownsville Rd, Pine Valley Rd, Hwy 92 (at least from Pine Valley Rd to Hiram) are open. Don't try it if you don't have 4x4, you'll have to dodge a few abandoned vehicles and I saw a couple 2wd's struggle to get traction after stopping at red lights.
  4. Hwy 92 at Brownsville Rd shopping center, Food Depot, Main Moon, Dominos, dry cleaners and Chevron are open. Hwy 92 at Pine Valley Rd, the gas station just up from 92 is open.
  5. I'm on Brownsville Rd with a 4x4 truck if anybody needs assistance
  6. I'm sitting at home with a 4x4 truck, wishing that I could help people who are stranded in the area. 4WD doesn't help much on ice, but it's still much better on these roads than 2WD vehicles (I have driven both today.)
  7. I'm off Brownsville Rd with a 4x4 truck if anybody in the area needs assistance.
  8. If you just want basic alarm and monitoring, SimpliSafe is the cheapest security system that I know of (and no contract as well.) However, I love tying in home automation with the security system. I signed up with Vivint last April and am really happy with the system. The monitoring cost is relatively expensive, but the additional cost for the energy and automation packages are more reasonable. In addition to the control panel, I can go to the website or use the app on my phone & tablet to arm/disarm the alarm, lock/unlock the front door, view the camera, turn on/off certain lights and
  9. Everything is working fine for me. I guess PUBBY fixed it?
  10. Thanks for the heads up. I still use Windows XP on my old desktop and laptop computers but I use other security software instead of Microsoft Security Essentials.
  11. My AmEx card was used last year to purchase three plane tickets from a travel agency in Chicago. The best part was that the travelers' names were included on the statement. In your dad's case Lucky, I'm sure it'll be easy to get a name from the insurance bill and who paid it.
  12. I paid over $600 for repairs so that my truck would pass the emissions test. Then I found out that I didn't need the emissions test because it was done at the beginning of the year when I purchased the truck. I would have rode around with the check engine light on for another year.
  13. I had an issue earlier this year with mold/mildew growing on things in my basement. The humidity was very high and I haven't had any more mildew since I put a dehumidifier in the basement.
  14. https://maps.google.com/?q=Dallas,%20GA
  15. Ryan's will be open. A friend of mine has to spend his day there working.
  16. I broke the screen on my Dell Inspiron E1505 and my dad replaced the screen. It isn't really hard to do and there are instructional videos on YouTube. The new screen cost $75 plus $13 for shipping back in February. I just checked the website and they may no longer be in stock. http://www.lcds4less.com/DellLaptop__Dell_Inspiron_E1505__laptop-screens.html
  17. I don't have a family to cook for or eat with, so I eat when I'm hungry. I'm usually hungry when I get off work, so dinner is typically around 5 depending on whether I eat (or pickup something) on the way home, prepare something at home or meet a friend for dinner.
  18. I'm confused if the father beat the boy to death or not. The article says that the boy was reported to have drowned and the police discovered marks on the body that are consistent with a history of abuse. The article does not speculate that the boy was beaten to death. The autopsy will show cause of death as drowning or trauma.
  19. If it wasn't New York City, I suspect that the SUV driver would have been shot the second time that he began to run over a biker. I watched the video online before hearing any news or anything about the incident and knew that it would not end well for the SUV driver. The video linked to in the OP is indeed Faux News because they talked only about the driver being stopped and beaten but didn't bother including that it started after he hit a biker, ran over a biker, then hit another biker and that's why he was beaten. Have y'all seen the video? The group of bikers are passing the SUV and one
  20. I don't know of any Krispy Kreme locations that are open at 3 AM. The off-duty officer was carjacked at a stoplight near the doughnut store. The article does not mention if he was in uniform or in a police car.
  21. I saw a portion of the parking lot in front of Mia's Wing Max was closed off yesterday afternoon, but when I saw some motorcycles parked inside, I figured it must be bike night. A restaurant/bar that used to be at Arbor Place Mall would cordon off a section of the parking lot for motorcycle parking on bike night.
  22. While the hamfest is like a flea market for ham radio stuff, you'll also find general electronics and other items being sold. It is FREE come shop and/or sell! In addition to the 50/50 raffle, there will also be drawings for $25 & $50 ARRL gift certificates. Here is the flyer in PDF HAMFESTFLYER.pdf
  23. Yup, they did the fireworks last night. Here's what else: Come join the Parks and Recreation Department for a night of free fun with games, a concert featuring Timeless Highway and fireworks. Bring your blankets or lawn chairs. The following vendors will be available; BumbleBee Bakery, Happy Hawg BBQ, Hiram Yogli Mogli, Johnny's New York Style Pizza,The Thirsty Parrot, Sinclair's Kyuki-Do Martial Arts, Ostrow Family Chiropractic, P.C. and Party Ink NO Alcoholic Beverages Allowed Festivities start at 5:00pm - 7:00pm 5:00 Stars and Strikes Cornhole Tournament 5:30 Zumba Class (adults)
  24. If I had seen this sooner, I would have dropped in during the visitation. I knew Dennis for a short period of time after my mail route was adjusted and I started delivering to his street. He would frequently receive packages for his model train collection, so I saw him often. Dennis was a super nice guy. I guess it was about two years ago when I found out from a neighbor that Dennis had a stroke, wasn't doing well and would spend the rest of his days at a nursing home.
  25. A man posted a comment saying "we were just showing our respect and admiration for these soldiers who were MIA over 62 years from the Korean War."
