  1. I spent 3 winter Mini-Semesters in Key Largo for January and part of February doing Marine Biology research. 1972,73, and 74. It was one of my favorite Life Experiences. Dove almost everyday and lived on Mango Snapper and Stone Crab! Hope you enjoy yourself.
  2. Getting the ducks ready to go on the Rotisserie. These are so, so, so GOOD!!! The skin is to die for, and has enough chloesterol to do the job. The meat is juicy and sweet loaded with flavor. We only use salt and pepper....mother nature supplies the rest. Some wild rice, steamed broccoli, carrots, and sugar snaps with onions. And Sake' of course. Bon Apetite!
  3. You can spot the areas with the longest commutes.....they have gas lines and empty stations. Marietta/Cobb has plenty.
  4. Best be quiet about this or the Baptists will shut it down.
  5. We were asked to cat/house sit some dear, dear old friend's house on the North side off Ft Walton Bay, in Niceville, Fl for 10 days while they took a cruise. Daisy the Chihuahua had a blast harrassing their cats. We enjoyed the pool and spa, and we took advantage of the seafood. We had fresh snapper 3 nights while there, and brought back 12 frozen snappers I caught on one of the Party Boats out if Destin, as well as a half case of oysters. About 85 of the critters for $56. Poor Melissa got seasick, and it was ROUGH with 4-5 foot seas and white caps. She did not fish at all. My legs an
  6. I have aired out and aged 2 Culver Ducks [i normally get Maple Leaf, but both are good customers of mine] that I prepped and steamed this afternoon. They are now resting in the basement fridge. Tomorrow I will skewer them, butt to butt, and let them take a ride on the rotisserie for 45 minutes or so. Since they are pre-steamed, they do not take near as long to cook, and I get the rendered fat from steaming them. It clarifies to a solid white lard great for pie crusts, biscuits, etc. Good Eats here tomorrow. What Y'all cooking ? Bon Apetite! This is what they will look
  7. And who has the best deals ? My IPhone, an Apple PCXCE or at least thats the only id numbers on the back of the phone, got the corner wet whilst riding on a boat Friday. Coffee spilled in a tall cup with a top that was not closed tite inside Melissa's purse and it got damp...... Not drowned, but apparently enough to mess it up. In the Setings General, it says it is a model MC922LL/A I use AT&T It is a 4G ? There is what looks like a "cloud" stain in the lower left corner, and the main function key will not always work. I dried it well in the Florida sun Saturday,
  8. In the gouging grocery retailers thread from week before last, someone asked me how long they should hold eggs and I was unable to answer. I as in the panhandle of florida cat/housing sitting for some old friends and my computer got hacked on their network. Took me until yesterday to get everythiing straightened out. I could see stuff with my phone, but not reply ?!?!? I have been most of today reinstalling McAfee, Superspyware, etc on my laptop and my old tower. As to holding eggs, of primary importance is keeping them at 40F or lower. If you need 3 or 4 for a recipe at room tempe
  9. It is a great event. Earl Duncan needs to be remembered fir buying the land and building the park. The biard who runs it,......all volunteers ne plenty of kudos for bringing it all together.....Cathy Hels included!!!!
  10. I grind my own groud beef. I but $6 T bones, or reduced fir quick sale for like $2.84, and put in back fat from rib roasts I have trimmed. It takes some time to cut off the meat and grind it twice, but the end product, burgers, meat balls, or a pound of GB is worth the time. Tastrs great. !!!
  11. We had an AI outbreak a year ag April where 25 million hens had to be destroyed. This drove the wholesale index up to almist $3 a dozen. It take months to repopulate, and the almost 6 months before the new hens start laying. Many of the bug retailers like Kroger have kept the retail prive at 100% ir higher narguns, because they could, and kept selling at inflated prices while the wholesale fell diwn to $0.30 a dozen. Its just not right.
  12. Colorado is netting millions and not wasting police, court, or jail expenses trying to prosecute users.
  13. No Mrs H, the USDA purchasing the eggs hopefully will have the opposite effect. The wholesale price index Friday was $0.71 for large. Break-even price fir the bug producers is $0.90. And higher for the small and medium guys. By purchasing eggs and shipping them in export helps keep the price higher. The producers are losing $0.20 a dozen. The high end retailers are doubling their margins.
  14. And raining now, just a nice drizzle to cool it off. I may go get in the Spa, although Melissa sats no because there us some thunder.
  15. Revenoor, I' say someone has you in thier sughts. Or you have one hell of a home for Paulding
  16. Play nuce my pcomer friends. I just came on to take a peek while we are enjoying the Ft Walton bay area. Some very dear friends left this afternoon on a week long cruise and we are house sitting and feeding their cats. Nice to ne in Niceville. We are avoiding Destin until Tuesday. Plenty to keep us busy and well fed here. Live fresh shrimp getting ready to go in the pot. They don't come any fresher. After my Martini !!!
  17. We're in Niceville, on the North side of the bay from Destin. Some clouds, and thunderheads to the East is all we had.
  18. Ok, Arthur Blank is getting his new Mercedes Stadium. Paid for with a great deal of tax money. I said at the time, forcing those 2 old black Churches to sell our with a threat of Imminent Domain was going to create some bad, bad Karma. And after last year, and this years preseason it suure looks like the Falcons have plenty of bad Karma. I guess its to late to apologize and make peace. I sure hope the Falcons get their sticks together, but at this point I am not betting on it.
  19. It was NOT a pretty sight It was NOT a pretty sight
  20. And Kroger is what? $1.65? They all come from 3 egg packing facilities in Northeast Georgia. Why the dispairity in pricing other than the retailers are gouging us. The egg producers are getting stuck with terribly low prices while the big retaiiers are making 200% profits because they lnow you wsnt to feed your family wholesome eggs.
  21. Well, after we ground all the beef, and some lamb, we had 36 burgers, and 70+ meatballs. The last pound of beef we mixed in oregano, parsley, garlic, and some other Italian spices, and had Spaghetti with meatballs, baby bella mushrooms, with Angel Hair Pasta, and a terrifice tossed salad with Romaine and Tuscan Mix. Oh my goodness. Memories of my youth when we had spaghetti at least every other week. We have learned how to make terrific marinara sauce with pronounced garlic and parmesian and that with the meatballs was just some really good food. Its funny how we tend to for
  22. OK, the grocery retailers, for the most part, and especially Kroger, Publix, Ingles, WalMart are absolutely ripping off the consumers on certain foods. They practice it seems they have all adopted, is much like the price of gas. Once it gets kicked way up by some outside forces, ......KEEP IT UP THERE even when the raw materials have dropped back to half of what they were in the first place. Today for instance, take a dozen large store brand eggs: A year ago last spring, the wholesale index for eggs was around $0.90 to $1.00 a dozen, and were $1.50 or so at the retail level. Then we
