  1. Debbie Corley Phillips, 61, of Dallas, GA passed away unexpectedly on February 22, 2020 at her home.  She was born June 28, 1958 in Cartersville, GA.

     

    Mrs. Phillips was a homemaker who will be remembered as the one who always took care of everybody. She was the most loyal friend a person could want.

     

    She was preceded in death by her mother, Genette Corley. She is survived by her husband, Scott Phillips; two sons, Michael Bickers and his wife Kelly of Dallas, and Cole Phillips of Dallas; her father, Paul Corley of Dallas; one brother, David Corley and his wife Michelle of Dallas; three grandchildren Morgan, Macie, and Miley Bickers; one niece; Genna Corley; and one nephew, Cooper Corley.

    Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 26 at 3:00 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Todd Tibbitts officiating.  Interment will follow at Narroway Baptist Church.  The family will receive visitors Wednesday, February 26 from noon until time for the funeral.

  2. Ludie Marie Mayfield Hall

     

    Ludie Marie Mayfield Hall, 82, of Acworth, GA gained her heavenly robe and crown on February 21, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family and friends.  She was born on October 7, 1937, in Dallas, GA. She was an active member of Whitworth Baptist Church. She was known for her singing for the Lord, good deeds, and never turning away a stranger. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was a talented seamstress, even making wedding dresses. She made wedding cakes and flowers, quilts, and countless Christmas costumes for the church. During the final days of her illness, this Proverbs 31 woman crocheted tams and delivered them to the cancer center.  

     

    Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her parents Jessie Clarence and Etta L. Newberry Mayfield; a brother, Ray Mayfield; and a sister, Jean Mayfield. She is survived by her husband Carl A. Hall of 63 years. They were a devoted couple who frequently welcomed strangers into their home even in the wee hours because they were known for their willingness to help others. She is also survived by her children: Carl Allan Hall of Dallas and his wife Kimberly; Tammie Hall-Vanmeter and her husband Marty of Dallas; Vicki Dubs of Dallas and her husband Joseph; and one brother, Larry Mayfield of Tallapoosa. She was blessed with 14 grandchildren and their spouses: Kim Chupp, Kristy Johnson, Kalisa Phifer, Kortni Pike, Jason Walker, Patrick Dubs, Caitie Chupp, Zachary Hall, Allana Hall, Kara Hicks, Kristi Allen, Kacey McClarty, Jeffrey Hannah, and Desire Hannah; and 11 great-grandchildren: Michael Chupp, Sara Green, Aaron Chupp, Brandon Johnson, Alice Pike, Wesley Pike, Madelyn Walker, Alex Walker, Sam Walker, Emma Iverson, Joseph Iverson; and one great-great grandchild, Benjamin Chupp.

     

    Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 25 at 2:00 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home Chapel in Hiram, GA with Doctors Darin Cochran and Marvin Ellis officiating.  Interment will follow in the Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, February 23 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

  3. Tim Gilbert, 47, of Hiram, GA passed away on February 19, 2020.  He was born on November 29, 1972 in Austell, GA. He was of the Baptist faith and was truck driver with Onsite Woodworking, Inc. for more than 15 years.

     

    He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Crystal Gilbert; his son, Gage Dobek of Barnsville; his daughters Carly Miller of Covington and Megan Gilbert of Hiram; his parents Ricky and Pearl Gilbert of Douglasville; one brother Randy Gilbert of Dallas, and several nieces and nephews.

     

    A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Clark Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Curtis Downey officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 23. His cremated remains will be interred at Paulding Memorial Gardens on Monday, February 24 at 1:00 p.m.

  4. Regenia Ann Gunter, 82, of Woodstock, GA passed away on February 20, 2020. She was born on July 12, 1937 in Carrollton, GA. Mrs. Gunter was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Kennesaw, GA. She worked for more than 12 years at Verizon, formerly Contel Communications.  She is predeceased by her husband, Waymon James Gunter, and her parents Emory Samuel Simpson and Carrie Lee Payne Simpson.

     

    She is survived by one daughter Sandy Smith of Woodstock, GA.  She is also survived by her brothers Curtis Simpson and his wife Edna of Dallas, GA and Sam Simpson and his wife Carol of Jasper, GA. She was blessed with two grandchildren Brian Gainey and his wife Alison, and Casey McGill and her husband Tim, as well as three great-grandchildren Rose Gainey, Addison McGill, and Samuel McGill, numerous nieces and nephews.

     

    Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Floyd officiating. Interment will follow in Paulding Memorial Gardens in Hiram, GA. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Saturday, February 22 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.

  5. Ralph Victor Pfiefer of Dallas, GA passed away on February 19, 2020 at home.  He was born on January 18, 1936 in Chicago, IL to the late Victor and Mildred Pfiefer. He was also the beloved brother of his deceased sister and brother-in-law, Marlene and Rick Bogacki.  Mr. Pfiefer was a truck driver for Yellow Freight for 18 years.  

    He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Christine Gudewicz Pfiefer; sons Ralph Anthony Pfiefer and his wife Deidra, Anthony Ralph Pfiefer and his wife Lisa, Kevin Griffin and his wife Terese, Tony Griffin and his wife Danita, Tommy Behan and his wife Charity, and his daughter Renee Jordan; brothers-in-law Wayne Gudewicz and Chester Gudewicz; nieces and nephews Megan Andersen, Danny Drake, Rachel Gudeicz, and Joey Bogacki; and nine grandchildren Tyler, Sean, Alyssa, Kaitlin, Soren, Grant, Briac, Elly, and Brenick.

    Ralph enjoyed watching Nascar and spending time with family, playing Uno and SEQUENCE, and enjoying each day. He loved his family both near and far.

    In accordance to Mr. Pfiefer’s wishes, he was cremated, and no services are planned at this time.

Elizabeth Jean Wallace, 71, of Dallas, GA gained her beautiful wings gracefully and peacefully on February 8, 2020 at her home.  She is now joined hand in hand with her true love, Timothy Wallace. Mrs. Wallace was born on August 21, 1948, in Marietta, GA. Mrs. Wallace, a homemaker, was an outstanding, caring, loving mother, friend, and grandmother.

    She is survived by her children, Randall Decker of Mississippi; Sandra Miller and her husband David of Dallas, GA; and Rebecca Decker of Dallas, GA. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren: Billy, Brooke, Kristen, Katelyn, Joshua, Jacob, Mitch, Brandon, Ashley, Elisa, Adam, Nicole, and Amber; and with 17 great-grandchildren all of whom she loved unconditionally, as well as many nieces and nephews.

    Mrs. Wallace was preceded in death by her husband, Timothy Dewayne Wallace, and her parents, Horace Edgar Beavers and Carlene Evelyn Graham Beavers; 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.

    The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 10, 2020. No memorial service is planned at this time.

    Mike Christopher, 64, of Dallas, GA passed away on January 10, 2020 at Wellstar Paulding Hospital.  He was born September 8, 1955 in Gainesville, GA. He was Christian/Baptist faith. He a loving father and grandfather. He was a lieutenant with Paulding County Sheriff’s Department for 21 years and previously with Marietta Police Department for 11 years.

     

    He is survived by his partner in life, Ruth Simpson, his children: Scott Christopher of Bremen, GA, Jim and Penny Hatsell of Dallas, GA, Mary Simpson Parker of Dallas, GA, and Warren and Lisa Holland of Kentucky; his brothers: Bob (Gwenn) Christopher of Cleveland, GA and Donnie (Arlene) Christopher of Stone Mountain, GA; and six grandchildren.

     

    Mr. Christopher was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Clyde Christopher and Clarice Maude (Camp) Christopher; his sister, Joan Christopher; his brothers infant Ronnie Christopher, Joe Christopher, Ray Christopher, and David Christopher; his grandchildren Cody Christopher, Kyle Christopher, and Caitlynn Christopher.

     

    A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2020, at 5:00 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joey Meeks officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

  8. Shanna Breann Stephens, age 30, of Hiram, GA passed away on Friday, November 29, 2019.  She was born on May 18, 1989, in Douglasville, GA. Shanna was preceded in death by her sister, Vanessa Owens. She is survived by her mother and step-father Tami and Robert Owens of Hiram, GA and her father and step-mother Bill and Jane Stephens of South Carolina. She is also survived by her grandparents Dean and Mal Rowell of Douglasville, GA and her siblings: Shay Stephens and Cassandra Coward of South Carolina; Amanda Farmer of Hiram, GA; Summer and Ray Floyd of South Carolina; Chapell and Sidney Rainwater of South Carolina. She was a member of West Ridge Church.

    Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. at West Ridge Church with Rev. Brian Bloye and Rev. Steve Veale officiating.  Interment will follow at Melrose Hills Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1:00 to 3:00 on Tuesday, December 3, 2019.

  9. Oletha Jenkins, 84, of Dallas, GA passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Tranquility at Cobb Hospice Center.  She was born on April 2, 1935 in Atlanta, GA and graduated from West Fulton High School in 1952. The glue that kept the family together, she loved hosting all her family for all the holidays and special occasions. Her favorite place was Cade’s Cove. She enjoyed camping, and she had a place at the lake for years that she loved. In her later years she enjoyed watching the wild animals on her property and her numerous hummingbird feeders. As much as she loved hummingbirds, she loved being with her grandchildren more.

    Mrs. Jenkins was a member of Pebble Brook Baptist Church in Mableton, GA. She worked for more than 20 years as a secretary for the YWCA.

    She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Jack Akins and her parents Roy and Pauline Embrey and a brother Gary Embrey. She is survived by her current husband Jerry Jenkins, her son Kim and his wife Jan Akins of Powder Springs, GA and her daughters Jaleta and husband David Cooper of Dallas, GA; Vickie Peaster of Marietta, GA; Cindy and her husband Gary Warner of Acworth, GA; Tammy and her husband Eddie Smith of Marietta, GA; one sister, Judy and her husband Gerald Robertson of Mableton, GA, 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. from Clark Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.   10. Mr. Carl Eugene Smith, 87, of Dallas, GA passed away at Rockmart Health & Rehabilitation Center in Rockmart, GA on Wednesday, November 27, 2019. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly J. Smith and his son, Scott Smith. Mr. Smith is survived by his son, Mark (Edith) Smith of Dallas, GA; his grandchildren Christy Smith of Dallas, GA, Jason Smith of Douglasville, GA, and Taylor Smith of Dallas, GA; as well as two great-grandchildren, Shelby Smith and Nolen Smith.  Mr. Smith was of the Christian faith (Baptist). A United States Army Veteran, he worked for Lockheed for more than 32 years.

  11. Joel Maurice “Fred” Morgan, 80, of Powder Springs, GA passed away on November 28, 2019, at Tranquility Cobb Hospice in Austell, GA.  He was born on October 15, 1939 in Atlanta, GA. Mr. Morgan is survived by his beloved wife Harriett Wackwitz Morgan of 57 years; sons, Dean (Sharon) Morgan of Rockmart, GA and Jason (Cindy) Morgan of Hiram, GA; one daughter, Ginger (Dwayne) Howell of Dallas, GA; two brothers, Jerry (Scarlett) Morgan of Rockmart, GA and Wooley Morgan of Kingston, GA; one sister, Pat (Frazier) Mitchell of Mableton, GA; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Asa Irma Morgan and Marguerite Hobbs Morgan.

    He was of the Christian faith and served as an ordained deacon. He served four years in the United States Marine Corps and owned a grading company for 30 years.  

    Funeral services will be held on Thursday, at 11:00 a.m. from Clark Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jason Morgan, Rev. Zack Morgan, and Brother Vermon Parmer officiating.  Interment will follow in Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA at 2:30 p.m.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

  12. Roy Oxford, 91, of Dallas, GA passed away on October 20, 2019.  He was born on April 4, 1928, in Atlanta, GA.

    Mr. Oxford served in the United States Army as a Medical Technician during World War II. He was a truck driver for Kroger for 35 years.  

    He is survived by his children Wayne (Sandy) Oxford of Lawrenceville, GA and Gail Oxford of Dallas, GA; his brother Clyde William (Diane) Oxford of Flowery Branch, GA; four grandchildren: Stephen Greene, Corly Brook, Scott Oxford, and Evelyn Oxford; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his sister, Marie Oxford, and his brother, Ralph M. Oxford.

    Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 23, at time 11:00 a.m. from Clark Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Thomas Blagg officiating.  Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

  13. Terry Clarke, 73, of Douglasville, GA passed away on October 18, 2019 at Wellstar Cobb Hospital.  He was born on August 7, 1946 in Atlanta, GA.

     

    Mr. Clarke was of Baptist faith. He became a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps and earned several medals, badges, and commendations. After serving as a combat engineer, he worked as a development mechanic at Lockheed Georgia for more than 30 years.  

     

    He leaves his wife of 25 years, Jane Clarke; two daughters, Jennifer (Jason) Miller of Villa Rica, GA and Mistie (Cam) Brooks of Lithia Springs, GA; one brother, W.M. (Joan) Clarke of Ballground, GA; two grandchildren, Jake Benoskie and Maddie Jane Brooks; and several nieces and nephews.

     

    Mr. Clarke was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Bert Clarke and Frankie Mae Moore Clarke.

     

    Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 21, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. from Clark Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.   14. Edward Matthew “Matt” Corley, age 47 of Dallas, GA, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2019.  He was employed in Sales for approximately 25 years.

  15. David Gaston Tatum, age 74 of Powder Springs, GA passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2019. He was self- employed as a Meat Cutter for approximately 55 years.  He was preceded in death by his parents; Andrew James and Ida Marie Tatum.

  16. Sadie Jane Locklear, age 75 of Dallas, GA passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2019. She was a Bus Driver for Paulding County School System for 41 years prior to her retirement and a member of New Life Baptist Church.

     

    Survivors include her daughters; Rebecca Ann (Carey) Canup of Dallas, GA, Patricia Lynn Locklear of Dallas, GA; sisters, Glenda Guice of Villa Rica, GA, Carolyn Johnson of Rome, GA and Charlotte Austin of Rockmart; granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Canup, many nieces and nephews.

  17. Cecil Dean Butler, age 82 passed away at his residence on Wednesday, October 2, 2019. He was a painting contractor for approximately 40 years and a Major League Baseball Player with the Braves from 1959-1964. He was preceded in death by his parents; Paul Henry and Nora Gulledge Butler and sister, Thelma Foster.

    Survivors include his son; David (Lisa) Butler of Dallas, GA, daughters; Mary Lewis of Adairsville, GA and Dawn Reisner; granddaughter, Amanda (Coye) Cantrell and grandson, David (Kristina) Butler.

Coach Jimmy Ray Matthews, age 85 of Dallas, GA passed away on Monday evening, September 30, 2019.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Dallas and a teacher and coach for many years in the Paulding County School System, first at Dallas High School, Paulding County High School and retired from East Paulding High School.   Coach Matthews was preceded in death by his wife; Sue Matthews; parents; Ray H. and Rozzie Lee Redding Matthews; brothers, Bobby and Larry Matthews.

     

    Survivors include his daughters; Pam Matthews of Dallas, GA, Debora (Mark) Shipp of Dallas, GA, Kim (Mark) Cromer of Dahlongea, GA; sisters, Kathy Jane Matthews of Villa Rica, GA, Sarah Morton of Villa Rica, GA; grandchildren, Matthew Maulding, James Ray (Hannah) Wilson, Stuart (Lindsey) Young, Elliott Cromer, David Cromer, Noah Cromer and great-grandchildren, Ashlynn Wilson, Raylyn Young and Maddie Grace Maulding.

  19.   Tina Leigh Rutledge, age 48 of Dallas, GA passed away on Monday, September 30, 2019.  She was a 1989 graduate of Paulding County High School, following graduation she worked in the banking industry briefly, then joined the Paulding County Judicial Court System, later becoming Deputy Clerk. Her health forced her to take a leave of absence that resulted in full disability later.  Through her career she was well known for her loving smile and personality. She was a member of North Paulding Baptist Church.  Tina was loved by all who knew her both family and friends and will always be loved, missed and remembered. She loved her family and was always writing poems and cooking unusual meals.  Tina’s journey in life touched many, many people in all walks of life and she will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her father, Art Rutledge; Grandmother, Katie Benson; Grandparents, J.C. and Emmalenee Rutledge; Aunt Gail Brewer; Uncle Jimmy Rutledge and step-son, Chris Upton.

    Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2019 at 3:00 pm from the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Cole, Rev. Eddie Wyatt and Rev. Todd Tibbitts officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Ken Upton, Jay Wood, Jeff Hollis, Wayne Benson, Jeff Benson, Barry Keown, Grady Wade, Kreed Benson and Cody Hollis.     Casey Ryan Ball, age 29, of Dallas, GA, passed unexpectedly Friday, September 27, 2019. He was born on June 8, 1990 at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, GA. Casey Ball graduated from East Paulding High School and worked as a Crew Supervisor for Randal Lowe Plumbing. He was a loving fiancé, son, brother, uncle and friend who will be missed by many.    

    Casey was well respected and abundantly loved by all. With his outgoing personality, he never met a stranger or lost a friend. He had a unique and special bond with every person he encountered. His infectious smile lit up the world and his contagious laugh made it go around. Casey’s spirt was wild and free, his heart selfless and giving. He knew no end to lending a helping hand. “If I have it, you have it” and ”what’s mine is yours” he would alway say. His hobbies included being outdoors, going as fast as possible, spending time with family, friends and his dog, Kane. Children were magnetized to Casey. He was reliable, smart, uplifting and had a great sense of humor. Casey would make light of any situation and would always look for the positive. He will be cherished forever and missed eternally.

  22. Marion Stover, age 79, of Carrolton, GA, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2019. He was born on October 1, 1939 in Dallas, GA, to the late Leman and Mary Elizabeth Stover. He was retired from Ford Assembly Line in Hapeville, GA, where he worked for 30 years and was a member of Emanuel Baptist Church in Hiram, GA. Mr. Stover is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rebecca Ann Stover, parents and his two sisters.

    Survivors include his son, Rickey and Jenny Stover of Carrolton, GA, daughter, Melody and Mike Carter of Carrolton, GA, four brothers; James and Yvonne Stover of Dallas, GA, Henry and Beverly Stover of Hiram, GA, Kenneth and Dot Stover of Tuscaloosa, AL, Paul Stover of Carrolton, GA, six grandchildren; Starry and Justin Hopper, Brandy and Steve Burke, Amy Mickelson, Melissa and Jason Drum, Timothy and Kati Gardner Jason and Paige Gardner, 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

It is with great sadness that the family of Sharon Palmer Sikorski, age 57, of Dallas, GA announce that she passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2019, after a courageous fight with breast cancer.  She was born on May 24, 1962 in Smyrna, GA to Leonard and Delores Palmer. She was married to her beloved husband, Robert Sikorski, for 27 years. Mrs. Sikorski was a member of New Life Baptist Church and worked as an office manager for Petersen Aluminum Corporation for the last six years. Previously she was an underwriter at Allstate Insurance for 25 years.

    Sharon was known for her love for others. She loved to go to the beach, shop, and spend time with family and friends. She took pride in raising her girls. Anyone who knew her will remember her funny sense of humor and love for Jesus.

     

    Sharon was the beloved wife of Robert Lee Sikorski; loving mother to Brooke and her husband Kyle Bagby of Dallas, GA; and to Leah Sikorski also of Dallas, GA; cherished daughter of Leonard and Delores Palmer of Powder Springs, GA, and dear sister of Len Palmer and his wife Kristy of Marietta, SC; and sister to Kim Pope and her husband Mike of Dallas, GA. She also will be fondly remembered by her aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

    A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. in the Clark Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Vermon R.   24. John T. Winters, age 77, of Dallas, GA, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2019 at his residence. He was born on June 28, 1942 in Temple, GA, to the late William Paul Winters and Lottie Estelle Hollis Winters. Mr. Winters was retired Emory Healthcare where he worked in maintenance. John was a faithful member of Yorkville Baptist Church and was a member of Beulah Lodge #698 and elected the secretary in 1974. Mr. Winters was the longest standing masonic secretary in the state of Georgia. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce Ann Winters, parents, daughter, LeAnne Dobson, sister, Shirley Chupp, brother, Larry Winters, and nephew, Jeff Singleton.

Interment will follow the service at Beulahland Baptist Church with Masonic Rights. Serving as pallbearers will be the following Masons; Larry Sweat, Jerry Bullock, Jerry Hayes, Jeff Matthews, J.J. Hayes and Rusty Lane. Jimmy Smith will be serving as honorary pallbearer.   25. Emily Dorris Smith, age 93 of Hiram, GA passed away at her residence on Saturday, August 17, 2019. She was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church of Powder Springs. She was preceded in death by her parents; Louie and Estella Smith; husband, Robert Jehu Smith, Jr.; and two sisters; Joan Austin and Marjorie Garrard.

     

    Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Melinda Smith Mock and Dave Mock of Alpharetta, GA and two nephews.
