  1. Well. Not exactly. I know because we cut 18 trees the Sat of Thanksgiving in Spruce Pine NC and brought them back. (It pays for the gas to my inlaws and our tree!) BTW _ the tree farmer told me they start cutting in August for the box stores and put them in huge freezer warehouses!
  2. High Country Stables brings back trees from NC every year. Last week they had a couple of 8ft for $50 and 7ft for 45 - Fraser Fir? They are on 381 just north of New Hope past Rodneys...

  7. Hi there! Minimum age is around 5. That is about as young as we can go. The younger ones can come to our Mothers Morning Out on Wednesdays in December and ride... As far as discounts - the cost of the camp is the same as that of an hour lesson so it is already very inexpensive. However - since it is coming on the gift giving season :yahoo:we can probably give 10% on multiple family members. Thanks for asking! (Don't wait if you are interested though - these fun days really do fill up very quickly!) Miami http://highcountrystables.com

  12. If you hadn't noticed, we have been running a contest on Paulding.com and on our blog at http://highcountrystables.com for free tickets for four to our Fall Family Festival to be held Oct 17th. Unfortunately - we have apparently waited too late for this fall festival... and must postpone until Springtime. As much as we were looking forward to it - the weather is not cooperating with us! The forecast for Saturday is a high of 51! Plus we have had so much rain that the ground is just too wet for anyone to be on and not get soaked! We really don't think it would b
  13. Here was a posting for the contest on our blog at http://highcountrystables.com... Just two days left to get your story in! I have been a boarder at High Country Stables since Nov of 2006 and I can tell you now that I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else to board my horse Scout. The Phillips takes such good care of the horses and is the most loving family that you ever wanted to meet. Take Shelly Phillips for instance, she loves all the kids that ride at the barn and they love her back. She takes time to teach them how to take care of the horses and the responsibility that goe
  14. Wow. Great story! Thanks for sharing that. I think a lot of folks miss the personality part of the horses - and what amazing capabilities they have to teach us and our kids!
  15. Well - these guys are serious about wanting to come to the cookout! Three stories! Cool! Remember we are posting these over to the http://highocountrystables.com site as well. One more week or so and we'll be naming the winners of the four tickets to the festival... What is your horsey story?
  16. Looking for live music tonight? join us for great Mexican food, (with margaritas if you like) and a crowd of people singing along with Miami Phillips from 7-10.
  17. No body else has a horse story? We have had some great comments around the stables on these stories - so please - if you have a story go ahead and write it down! You might win the tickets -and if you can't go you can give them to another family! We will award a family of four free admission to the High Country Stables Fall Family Festival on Saturday Oct 17th for horse rides, games, cookout, live music and marshmallows around the fire - ($62 value) for some simple words... We are looking for the best horse story - (preferably about High Country Stables) - but we will let a
  18. I like this story! We have seen this happen time and time again with horses - they somehow know when we need support and love - and unlike the human race - horses are more than happy to provide all the love and support we need!
  19. Very nice story! There is definitely something about a newborn (no matter the species) but especially a foal just standing up on it's wobbly knees to bring out the joy in life! Thanks!
  20. That is the kind of story we are looking for! Thanks! Who else has a story about horses or how horses or lessons or a summer camp (especially if it was at High Country Stables) has affected their lives, their kids or other people they know? 1st place prize is 4 tickets to High Country Stables' Fall Family Festival with games, rides, cookout, live music and more! http://highcountrystables.com/family-cookouts-dallas-ga/
  21. We will award a family of four free admission to the High Country Stables Fall Family Festival on Saturday Oct 17th for horse rides, games, cookout, live music and marshmallows around the fire - ($62 value) for some simple words... We are looking for the best horse story - (preferably about High Country Stables) - but we will let any horse story enter! This story should be optimistic and heart warming - how someone bonded with a horse, or a horse helped someone, or how someone grew up with a horse. Maybe how a trainer or teacher at a barn was a big influence or mentor in a life...
  22. What are you doing Saturday Oct 17 evening? Take the family out for a special evening at the stables. Start with games for the kids, pony rides for everybody (who isn't too heavy for our horses), then we'll eat on on the hay bales while listening to live music, and wrap up with marshmallow roast at the fire by the lake while the sun goes down. Sounds like a perfect fall Saturday evening to me! Adults $19, 5-12 $12 under 5 $5 Make reservations and learn more here... (They are filling up fast...) 24. Thanks for all the calls we have had after the 'great' flood! Everybody is fine although it was a bit scary... Don't forget about October 17th 5-8 pm. We took all the suggestions received and put together a really fun family night. Start with games for the kids, pony rides for everybody (who isn't too heavy for our horses), then we'll eat on on the hay bales while listening to live music, and wrap up with marshmallow roast at the fire by the lake while the sun goes down.
