  1. PAULDING County leaders agree on need for closer collaboration on growth's impact on schools

Please click to read the entire article on the west Georgia neighbor.

The Paulding County Commission chairman and school district superintendent agreed they want to continue discussing how their two departments can better collaborate on location of new residential areas.

Carmichael said he wants county government and school district administrators to informally meet for an “exchange of ideas.”

“Bottom line … we are committed to collaborating together to achieve greater success,” he said.

The county school board recently approved placing on the Nov. 5 ballot renewal of the countywide 1% Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax for education, in part to generate funds to build a new middle school and add to existing schools to relieve overcrowding in northeast Paulding schools.

The document included a section on desired future land use but only guides commissioners’ future decision-making on zoning and does not legally require them to follow it..

  2. LOL... it was just me being goofy, apparently. I think I was trying to start it up on the fastread. It's been so long, that I had forgotten how. I wanted to start one in the internet cafe. I don't know the rules now though. Is it ok to ask about some police activity at a certain location in Paulding? I know in the old days that was ok.

We definitely want you to post about police activity. We will be setting up a forum for citizen news and journalism. Each month we will create a poll with that month's articles so people can vote. The winner will receive a cash prize.

  3. I have a question. It tells me that I can not start a new topic. Are there a new set of rules on this. This is my first time back in quite some time, so I'm out of the loop. :unknw:

I have done some research so I need to ask what forum you want and how you are getting to the forum? I don't need to know what you want to post. We are looking into bugs with browsers as a cause for some issues so I need to know what you have tried. Your permissions are good and it shows you have been a very good poster with no moderation. We are definitely glad to see you back. We hope you stick around as we go trough the changes. :give_rose:

  4. They are not banned. They can use them all they want. When their funding is cut they only have themselves to blame. This is not an isolated incident. Department heads that want to keep their jobs aren't talking to media about a lot of bizarre incidents.

There is no limit to the collective lowering of the IQ in America's government. A certain segment of the population is cheering because it is being brought down to a level they can understand. They not only have a president that can't use big words, he won't allow the federal government to do so either.

Every week we are dished up another plate of stupid to try and gag down. :bad:

  5. Nancy Pelosi wants the contract terminated. This is a deal between Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority and Whitefish. PREPA is owned by the Puerto Rican government. She thinks the feds should have the authority to interfere? Another example on how the Dems should have complete control over everything.

COWA deliberately attempted to mislead everyone with this topic.

Don't we hold him responsible for the actions of his appointees, or even the actions of his political party? It was ok for Obama so let's play by the same rules. This is the new and improved swamp, it's not what you know, but who you know. Being played just like local politics in towns across the nation.

  6. This is about far more than just gays or homosexuals

It's about freedom, and that's what this country was founded on.

You're kidding me, right? You would have the democratic party abolished if you could. If it were on the table, you would be to hell with freedom. You would have them destroyed. Close their businesses, financially break them. In other words, destroy the enemy. I watch how many times Tbar is brought up by you and your cronies. I don't see yall going after the postman. I see a double standard at work. You live in a mostly conservative area. You say and do what you want because there are powers in numbers. I don't think you can relate to being a minority. You feel very safe in your position of right-leaning white man.

  7. Two questions/comments to the lefties here regarding the article linked below:

1-How do you feel about this refusal of service?

2-This is the attitude you who are hating on the cops and condoning the protests are fueling

    http://www.heralddemocrat.com/news/20171014/police-officers-refused-service-at-denison-whataburger

Lefties aren't cop haters. We are too damn smart to give anyone unconditional support. In other words, we are not gullible. Maybe you need to ask why this form of peaceful protest scares the right so much. I heard it all before when they dragged black people off while passively protesting civil rights. As long as you can find something to point a finger at it is all good. Rioting and looting is one thing. Peacefully getting the right kind of attention infuriates the right. I will point out you were the one that used the term lefty. so don't get your panties in a wad over the term righty coming right back at you,

  8. During the 1900's there was a very successful black community in Tulsa Oklahoma so successful in fact whites were jealous and the KKK sought to put an end to it. They accused a young black man of raping a white woman an excuse used many times before and since. The next day 300 lay dead and the town burned to the ground.

    1921 Tulsa Race Riot

One of the most significant events in Tulsa’s history was the Race Riot that occurred in 1921. Following World War I, Tulsa boasted one of the most affluent African American communities in the country, known as the Greenwood District. This thriving business district and surrounding residential area was referred to as “Black Wall Street.” In June of 1921, a series of events nearly destroyed the entire Greenwood area.

They don't teach that in history classes. Learning about this affected me deeply and changed how I see black and white people. We are mean to all non-whites and have been throughout history. The fact that this is still not part of the curriculum in high school speaks volumes about white privilege. It exists and is so part of the norm that white people can't recognize it.

  9.

Cain, I'm getting really tired of your personal attacks.

LPPT - I think I'm older than you are, so yes I remember. Legislation was necessary in areas such as public schools refusing black students and public utilities making them sit on the back of the bus. The rest of the change has come from education and change of heart, not laws.

Condoning freedom is not condoning hatred. In fact, it's the lack of freedom that often fosters hatred.

I think you are wrong about the change of heart. Without the law, black people would have been allowed true freedom. We were kids when some of the lynchings and riots happened. I remember being taken out of school when busing started, just another word for desegregation. I remember when my grandmother drove her black maid home. I sat in the front and she sat in the back. Not out of personal disrespect but because both of them simply accepted that it was the way things were done. Funny thing, the maid was more financially secure than my grandmother. She owned her own home and it was paid for.

We passed the projects daily on our way home, They were constantly torn up. The black people that had their own homes kept them up. You see the black people hated the circumstances that put them in housing. Things got worse after desegregation. Retaliation was in the form of lack of employment and fair pay for the blacks.

Many retaliated by taking every dime they could get from the system to educate themselves and their children.

Others turned to drugs and alcohol.

The white folks were horrified at their children being bused to black schools. They were run down to the point that many parents thought they were unsafe and both races feared retribution on black and white students alike. My parents moved from the city to avoid the violence that was a daily occurrence in schools.

There is no such thing as separate and equal. It was the law that put us side by side, up close and personal for us to see it was just skin pigment that truly made us believe we are so different.

You are not allowed to hate them for their color nowadays but you are allowed to hate them for their politics.

There is not really that much difference

Frankly, it is still all right to hate on gays too. My son went to private church school. They could not refer to their rear ends as butts but could use gay as an insult.

  10. A privately owned business that does not fall under the category of public utility should have the right to refuse service to any person for any reason.

Consequently; customers of such privately owned companies have the right to choose not to do business with them.

    It's called freedom.

No, it says a lot about Sessions' belief in freedom.

The government has no business forcing a privately owned company to do business with someone.

You must really not remember how bad it was for blacks. I remember how they were treated. Discrimination has an ugly history. It doesn't stop at lunch counters and bus seats. Even more recently abused and murdered Gay people have not gotten what they had the right to in our judicial system. It doesn't stop in the bakery. It is the condoning of hatred and the freedom to practice it.

  11. I guess the difference for me is discriminating against people for the way they are born.

Many Christians don't believe that they are born that way. They believe that people choose a lifestyle that will cause them to be shunned, abused and sometimes killed.

It is no different than discriminating against people born with a mental deficit. The brains of homosexuals are obviously different than those of heterosexuals.

Basically, it boils down to being mean to Gay people. It's not like they were asking them to put porn on a wedding cake.

It says a lot about Jeff Sessions belief about homosexuality.

  12. Bakers who refuse to make cakes for gay weddings have 'fundamental right' to turn away orders says Jeff Sessions

I guess this means they can also turn away interracial couples. Muslims? Catholic? Jews? Are they going to question every customer about their religion and ethnicity? How about any other sins they may have committed. I see no difference, they need to refuse those that have had sex before marriage. They also need to ask if they have been divorced or committed adultery. If you are refusing people based on their sins per, the bible then you need to stick to it.

  13. The cost of a friendship with Russia is simply too high.

I would like to believe that a friendship with them would be a great thing for the world.

I think they demand we become more like them and that is why we are seeing Trump reaching out.

Putin and Trump see themselves as world leaders. Obviously not the free world.

We have seen the concentration of wealth growing on a world level. If America can not maintain the balance between world government and the powerful wealthy we will see a collapse of the free world.

We simply can not work on an allied level with Putin. Trump apparently can not understand the difference between a government and a business. Putin also sees them as the same thing. Trump is obviously ignorant of the consequences of bowing to Putin. These threats are scary to me.

  14. . It is not healthy. The body needs cholesterol & B12 for proper brain function and hormone regulation. (I was a vegetarian for 2 years and it wrecked my health.)

This is something we agree on! I had the same problem and now have to watch for symptoms to keep my b12 up. My son is vegetarian because of a genetic disorder he has the same issue with b12. Stiff you might want to have her look at some health problems from being vegan. A lot of doctors don't immediately recognize some vitamin deficiency symptoms. Most people are not prepared to go to the lengths it takes to be a healthy vegan.

  15. The first thing I thought was this young man had unlimited access to porn online.

Why does he have to get this close and personal, not to mention high risk?

Because he is out of control and escalating. I will give those from another generation a pass on their perspective, for now.

Everything a young teen might want in this day and age is available for the asking. This is perversion for the sake of perversion. I am so glad he was caught early, before he ruined lives.

Former U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara, who was removed from his post by the Trump administration last week, was overseeing an investigation into stock trades made by the president’s health secretary, according to a person familiar with the office.

Tom Price, head of the Department of Health and Human Services, came under scrutiny during his confirmation hearings for investments he made while serving in Congress. The Georgia lawmaker traded hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of shares in health-related companies, even as he voted on and sponsored legislation affecting the industry.

A 15-year-old boy at Hiram High School has been arrested for peeping into girls restrooms. On Thursday, the school's administration was alerted about a student possibly looking into a restroom through peep holes in the ceiling tiles. Another student saw the teen and took a picture of him climbing down from the ceiling of the boy's bathroom, according to the Paulding County Sheriff's Office.

  18. Here are the raw story headlines for today.

    Kinda funky, wouldn't you say.

I know you don't do facebook. These are very common. A few of these sites disappeared right after the election. Many people believe them. You don't even have to be on FB the links are shared through email too. Some of us understand how easy it is to publish a website or blog, we know that there is no vetting or oversight for factual publishing. There are millions that don't. How many times have we seen outrage over an Onion article? I am on the fence about forcing FB to vet some of these things. On the other hand I just watched the 1% take over the world and I am pretty sure FB and Fox news along with right wing pundits are to blame.

  19. I have never liked these types of things. I dislike them even more during this election.

We ended up with Trump because he basically followed a script written by Fox news supposed experts and right wing pundits.

They can't call him out on his BS because he got it from him and of course his outrageousness is now news.

Twenty years ago he would have been branded as a nut,, just like Bernie was labeled as too far out there to ever get traction in a primary. Hillary is going to become the first female president by design and default, think that one over.

Our elections are more like made for tv dramas. Real journalism is dead.

We are on a dangerous path of total segregation by party, color, and culture.

For 8 years the pundits and experts have told us of the horrible consequences of Obama's leadership, none of which has come to pass. You have people still waiting for it because of their faith in the right wing P and E's.

As the strongest nation in the world we face dangerous consequences when we elect bad leadership.

So much of the world is dependent on us to be balanced and fair when it comes to our arsenal and our markets.

The junior high mindset is so inappropriate for the most powerful nation in the world.

We are becoming unworthy of the responsibility as a people when we don't condemn lies and those things that go against our values, and integrity.

I don't agree with the garbage that this statue represents. I don't agree with the ridiculous memes that are shared non-stop on social media.

It really is not all right for the most powerful country in the world to embrace petty politics. We are tuning in, we are choosing to embrace it, and leaders all over the world are watching and asking each other what they are going to do about America. Let that sink in. We have 2 candidates that are petty liars.
