  1. He was mentally ill. I don't think prison made that much difference to him. His issues were in his head, that was his real prison. I wish they would have done brain studies on him to see if there was any treatment that would help. On the other hand, his followers should have been front and center on drug abuse prevention posters. They were not mentally ill when they got clean they had to face what they did under the influence of drugs and Manson. It is so hard for me to comprehend all the people on heroin and meth. I grew up in the 60's and 70's somehow I was convinced that heroin was a d
  2. As far as sensitivity is concerned BOB crime has become the new N word. As in don't talk to us about abuse by LE or anything else until you get a handle on BOB crime. It is not fair to blame BOB on a young, well educated, innocent black man being shot or beaten to death until you stop the BOB crime. They are not questioning black violent criminals going to jail. You can't understand it because you have never dealt with wondering if you were pulled over for driving black. It is what it is. The Trayvon Martin murder will stay with us for a very long time. At the end of the day, it was between a
  3. Children's father is one thing. Sexual abuse is a very different issue. It is often he said she said. In patriarchal society women most often lose. This is exactly why women just don't bother to report it. I just don't buy multiple women that don't know each other telling the same story are making it up. It's way too common. You may not be able to convict him, but telling it makes sure he suffers consequences. I would feel comfortable in saying that 3 out of 5 girls have experienced sexual situations before puberty and that 4 out of 5 adult women have experienced some type of nonconsensual sex
  4. I think the me too revelation has empowered many women to speak out. For many, it has been cathartic. I am sure for many men it has been hard to get a grip on or even believe these hundreds of thousands of women have been sexually abused. Some have no problem believing because they totally understand their gender, These are the ones generally overprotective of sisters and daughters. If I have had a close friend that had not been molested it was so few I don't really remember. At least 1/2 had been forced into sex at least once in her lifetime. More than one has been raped. Most are ashame
  5. I think people are missing the point. It all boils down to power. By nature politicians and the extremely rich seek power. It is never surprising to see powerful people abusing others. It just comes with the package. It is not everyone there are the few that want to do good things but they are a minority. The scrutiny is a good thing it helps weed them out. The problem is if you scrutinize them all like this your going to have to find replacements for the rotten eggs. I don't think the R or D jersey makes any difference when it comes to this. The problem is there is not enough scrutiny,
  6. I have a question for you. First of all, I despise waste. I think this question is relevant because we are going into a second residential boom in this county. This means we will also see another huge surge in commercial minimum wage construction which well push us into building more affordable housing. Why can there not be an application submitted to stop land use with the start of the studies for these roads? There is talk of Dabbs bridge being at least 4 laned to 3rd army road to an I75 exit. The building is going gangbusters up here. I know of at least 3 new homes that would have to go i
  7. The Democrats might provide the social safety nets but the Republicans create the need. Trump's little recession and deficit boom aren't far away. Look at the Democrats giving all those brown people that lost their jobs food stamps. Of course, they can always be demonized even worse when their kids start going hungry and they start stealing. You folks take the cake whining about Democrats. If you would clean up your own party we wouldn't need near as many social programs.
  8. Why is that significant to you? Don't you believe they have any reason for this? I believe they should be more vigilant than ever. In fact, I believe that all non-whites need to be extremely vigilant as long as Trump is in office. I have seen cases where I thought their protest of unfairness by LE was not warranted. I have also seen many where it was. I repeatedly see finger pointing at minorities and queer people as the cause of problems we face in this country. On top of that many see them as their political enemy because they vote democrat. There is still a lot of anger towards black p
  9. I had to go way back to my friend's history to find this. We often engage in these debates and I learn from them. She is college educated and has a very successful tutoring business. She lost a nephew to black on black violence a few years ago. We disagree on the fostering culture issue. I have so much respect for her and can ask her anything. She is making a difference in the black community by raising children up, tutoring them, preparing them for college someday. She is a strong black woman. There is a lot on this website, I still have not read it all. https://blacklivesmatter.com/
  10. I have not had a cold in years, nor has my family. We don't vaccinate. We understand the consequences. Our healthcare system can not medically support 1000's of people in an outbreak. even less if hospital workers were to come down with it. You get one type of immunity and for many, you give up your own immunity, Autoimmune diseases can be painful and last a lifetime. Everyone should make this decision with eyes wide open. Big pharma has broken trust with some of the population and honestly may never gain it back with some. They make it sound as though the flu shot is a crap shoot. Sometime
  11. I will look. It has been over a month. There were a lot of different tabs addressing different aspects. I know that the women that started it claimed it had been co-opted into dealing specifically with LE issues. Such an articulate contributor to any subject discussed on here.
  12. What many don't know is, the founders of the Black lives matter intend to address this. I read their manifesto. A part of it actually said they need to learn to treat black people in their own communities as valuable if the expect the rest of the nation to value them. It also addressed the prejudice of blacks against homosexuals and transgender in their communities. There really is not much difference in the races when it comes to bad people. Our skin color does not make any difference. What does make a difference is culture. black people hold onto theirs. I think it can be problematic in tha
  13. I would not be surprised if there were last-minute revisions to try and pull from competitors. I think this year will play a big part in how many physical stores stay open. There will no doubt be more strategies at work.
  14. The bottom line IMO is that the school board decides what can and can't be done on school property. They were aware of the deal. Someone takes out a loan and builds it on school property. A lot of people that had the ability to put on the brakes. My guess is they were all riding the wave. Best clubhouse, best team ect. To be frank there are schools all over the country that taxpayers will invest like this. This might be over the top for Paulding but not everywhere. In fact, those involved with this still believe this was an incredible value for what they were paying. I have heard it said many
  15. The basic facts of this are a little wonky. As far as I know, schools are public property. Meaning it is owned by the taxpayers and overseen by the school board. How can an employee or parent organization simply decide to take out a loan and build what they want on public property? The school board at the time had to be complicit as was the admin. Just because it is an inherited debt should not mean it does not have to be paid. The board could have said no at any time, but they did not. Nobody said no. They are all happy to retain control of the nice free clubhouse. Another thing that bother
  16. Mine is 1/2 stuffing and 1/2 dressing. I use to do it all from scratch now I use a mix of the Pepperidge Farm bread and cornbread. I like to make a rich chicken broth, sauteed" celery and onion, then boil to tender. Mix with the bread and cornbread. Let it cool to room temp than start adding raw eggs. I taste it before I add the egg. Sometimes bread products can be slightly bitter. If it is, add a touch of milk. I don't stuff the bird with this. I bake it. I started doing this because my husband is a northerner to break him in. My dad southern through and through loved this dressing.
  17. Cyber Monday! almost everything in black Friday ads can be found online at the same discount and free shipping. Last year JCPenney took 60% off everything in my cart. I am sure Walmart will be doing almost the same on some things.
  18. I have always been split on this issue. I don't understand how a volunteer organization that people retire from yearly when their kids' graduate can sign a loan. With that said the bank gave the loan in the spirit of helping out the school and the kids. The clubhouse is there and being used as it was intended. The bank is a community bank. They are not a huge chain that can easily absorb the loss. I do know this, for all intent and purposes my home belongs to the bank until I pay it off. The clubhouse belongs to the bank to do with as they please. The BOE can choose to be petty and not pay b
  19. Insurance was the reason government became involved in healthcare. There was a time when almost everyone had insurance or paid cash. Both were affordable for most Americans. I am not really sure when that changed. Frankly, I think there was abuse on both sides from medical and insurance companies. I never really bought into the widespread abuse of using the emergency room for colds on the weekend. I always thought it was an excuse to raise rates.
  20. I am still on many Lyme disease forums. One of them is for suicidal victims. The nerve pain caused by the bacteria is excruciating. Many that went undiagnosed for many years simply lay in bed in pain year after year. They usually do eventually suicide.
  21. A pharmacist in town that I would trust with my life had a conversation with me one time. He said when you get to the point that you are taking twice the recommended dosage of OTC meds to control pain you are killing yourself quickly. Many of you know that I had Lyme disease. I had what they call neuro Lyme. It ravaged my nervous system. For many years any pain would cause severe tremors I could not control. Around the time Pubby and I moved out of the downtown office I began having back pain. It would not respond to anything like chiro adjustments, physical therapy had me going home white-k
  22. You are not going to like this. For 8 years the American public was duped into believing the worst was going to happen. I mentioned many many times that fox used most of their airtime to bring supposed experts on to say what could happen. Right now we have experts testifying about what absolutely will happen under a new tax code. Many won't believe it because they don't know the difference between being told the truth and made up pundit bull. The right was duped into arming themselves by being told Obama was going to take away their guns and basically everything else they hold dear. T
