  1. So there were NO winners. We shut down the gov't, cost middle class folks jobs, cost business loans, pushed back hiring for what? NADA. ZIP. ZILCH. Unless you consider political grandstanding by BOTH parites worth something. Then you factor in we still have Obamacare on the table which no matter your politics is a nice warm fuzzy feeling but mathmatically impossiable to pull off AND you have essentially opened up a credit card for 6 months to live off of only increasing debit we already can't pay. HIP HIP HORRAY. F'n morons.
  2. YES. and then when all of us run out of money to pay for everyone else's health care, food, housing etc. they will just print more so we have a place to eat and live.
  3. I'm really not much of a Beach guy but it worked for us. The water wasn't "tropical" clear but still amazing in my opinion. I've been to Sarasota and that area and to me Orange Beach/Gulf Shores (they are only about 2 miles apart) is the same, I will say that Siesta Key had "nicer" sand then Orange Beach but in terms of bars, etc. right on the beach Gulf Shores/Orange Beach offered more of what we liked, but it was YEARS ago I was in Sarasota/Siesta Key. We are planning on going back to Bama for a long weekend again next year, as the kid REALLY loved hanging out on the beach and minus the tick
  4. ...not the public beach. The guy told us it is rarely inforced but his boss was riding in the truck with him so he had no choice. Irony he let us know that we couldn't be ticketed again for 48 hours so it was basically a free pass from that point forward. It's bascially an open container law, just like you can't walk down the PeachTree with a beer in hand. you can drink if you are on a private part of the beach, so next year we are just going to rent a condo or stay at a hotel on the beach. The warning is on the sign where you park. We just didn't bother the read it. Our friends got a
  5. Had a great few days in orange beach. Stayed at the Marriot Fairfield Inn, not on the beach but right across the street. With kid in tow we avoided the fine dinning but ate at LuLu's (I'm a big Buffett fan so had to go there) and a few hole in the wall type places, amazing oysters and shrimp at all of them. One called "The Gulf" which is just a couple shipping containers turned into a walk up resturant. AWESOME fish sandwhichs and burgers. Nothing was crowded at all except the day of the Bama/Texas AM game. We are going to had back next year but more "in season" it's odd but the complete lack
  6. Both, but more the American idiots....ahhhhh people....that keep electing these clowns on both sides of the aisle. Obamacare is a bad bill that goes against this nations foundation (I don't care if the SC upheld it they are wrong) and the Republicans are idiots for attempting govern through blackmail. In the end they keep getting their pay and the American people suffer. I know of no other job that you can fail 110% of the time and not only still be employeed but get a pay raise to boot. It's good to be king.
  7. Could you tell me how you can tell the difference between a Muslim owned business and a business owned by a legal US citizen that happens to be of Middle Eastern decent but isn't Muslim? I'd love to know...or do you just assume EVERYONE from the middle east is Muslim? Or a mom that has to carry around a bunch of stuff for her family when they are spending a day at the park....either description fits I suppose.
  8. Well I guess my mind was made up for me LOL. The wife booked us at the Fairfield Inn in Orange Beach on the canel. Friends of ours recommended it and get a huge discount. It looks like it will work. Considering we have a 2 year old with us its going to be spending time at the beach 90% of he day and then taking him to the zoo. Hotels.com and Travel Advisory rate it pretty high. Thanks for all the advice. Willing to take suggestions on places to eat with the kid....needs to have seafood for me and other options for my wife and him. Looking forward to the trip, never been to the Gulf before.
  9. Have a business trip and then we are extending it a few days so the wife and kid can come down to Gulf Shores and we can get a long weekend at the beach. We are staying at some hotel near one of the casinos in Miss. for the business trip but my wife doesn't want to drive that far with the kid so we are going to meet half way. We wanted to stay near the zoo as he loves zoos and then spend two days on the beach. Not looking to break the bank but would love a seaside view. Any recommendations?
  10. You appear to be correct. Looking at other Chevy dealers there are "full boat" ones for about 55K. The HD ones are in the 65 - 70 range, maybe thats what he thought this was. Still not paying it.
  11. I went to the dealer with this photo and said "how much" 80K!!!!! that was with the upgrades to the wheels and tires and the lift. without? 70K!!!! It's just frinkin' insane. Sorry I'm just shocked. I mean this was going to be my "weekend" car as I paid off my daily driver and my wife said she could live with her paid off daily for another couple years because she knew how much I wanted to have the truck my dad had a hand in and that I haven't driven a vechile I really liked in years to help get our finances back in line. I guess neither of us had any idea. We were thinking more like 40-45
  12. So, I REALLY want a new 2014 Silverado Z71. Its just a great looking truck and it's the last truck my father had a hand in designing before he retired. Went to the dealer and with a GM discount, 10% down AND a trade in of an old F150 that is worth about 2500 bucks my payment would STILL be over 500 a month. Seriously that is just under half of my house payment. I make decent money, have great but not perfect credit and there is NO WAY in hell I would pay that much for a truck and be able to sleep at night. NOW I am NOT talking about folks that need these trucks for work etc. but someone please
  13. It's bascially another name for a blacksmith. Comes in handy when there are broken water mains etc to be able to fix them and a lot of the city still uses the orignal cast iron pipes that require more then just a welding machine.
  14. Sorry guys if I hold a special place in my heart for a city my Grandfather was a cop in, my father grew up in, my family lives in and works in, I lived in and still spend a lot of time in and do hope to work in. Of course the city is broke and has problems, I never said otherwise, but it isn't ALL bad. Make fun all you want but Detroit and the burbs make a good summer vaca, and I would be more then happy to give you a list the length of your arm of safe, historical, fun and interesting things to do there. Honestly most major cities aren't that far away from where Detroit is at but the media ch
  15. Yeah hate to break this to you but crooked politicans come in ALL colors shapes genders and sizes. These just happened to be black. I noticed you failed to mention Dennis Archer who was the mayor between these two ass wipes, did a good job, and also was black. Or the current mayor Dave Bing who did a great job with what he had left to work with and also happens to be black. Stop trying to hide your racist sterotypical rants, its not possiable. Hate to break this to you but there is no airport in Detroit. The airport is in the burbs. If you felt scared at an airport you may want to man
  16. The fact the city is mostly black has nothing to do with the condition its in. You brought up race, no one else did, I fail to see what the cities racial make up has to do with anything regarding it's finacial issues please enlighten us. I just don't understand why race ALWAYS has to be brought into everything. As for the % in 6 figures I'm guess it's about the same as LA, NY, CHI, ATL or any other large city. I know it's hard for all of you to understand but yes there are areas of Detroit that are nice. It's not what the news pants it to be. Anyway, I got a lawn to mow.
  17. Damn you don't even attempt to hide your racism anymore do you? Just a little newsflash, My Aunt and Uncles neighbors DO live in homes like this and ARE black. They are doctors, lawyers and White Collar auto workers. Skin color has nothing to do with the issues the city is having.
  18. Tour the Speedway. Even if you aren't into racing it's a really cool piece of American History.
  19. Not all of Detroit is bad. I know that hurts to admit for those of you that want to portray it that way but there are a lot of very nice areas. My family lives downtown, within walking distance of Commerica Park in a gated community. This is a photo of one of the houses on their street, it happens to be a home built in 1915 by the owner of the Tigers at the time. I have always dreamed of working at the recen, where my Dad's office over looks the river or living in one of the high rise apartments. Detroit has the same issues all big cities due. the difference is they have a lot more
  20. The chapter 9 should have been filed YEARS ago. As for the casinos its mostly folks from the well to do 'burbs that go there (Oakland County is less then a 5 minute drive and is one of the most wealthly counties in the United States, and you would be surprised at the tourism rate Detroit and the surrounding area gets. Folks in Windsor tend to go to their own casion. Ceasers Windsor. I hope this is the final kick in the ass that the city needs to rebuild, but I kind of doubt it will work. While corupt liberals have SOMETHING to do with it, the main issue facing Detroit is the m
  21. Nothing to see here folks. I took an "off the grid" vaca with the family. Mom, Dad, Sisters, Wife, Kids, cousins, nieces etc. We all rented some cabins up in the UP of Michigan. No phones, computers, TVs etc. Just fishing, card playing, 4wheeling, beer drinking, BBQ etc. Got back and found I enjoy life a lot more without being tied down to all the electronics. I will be around here and there, but not nearly as much as I was. Kid is doing well, still not talking the way we would like but nothing that we are concerned about....and I hate to break it to some of my biggest fans but th
  22. Funny thing happened. I took an "off the grid vaca" up in Northern Michigan. Camping, Fishing, Skeet Shooting, 4 wheeling. NO phones, no computers, no TV. Just me and the family in a big cabin. It was great. That was a while back but when I came back I noticed I didn't use the computers, TVs etc. as much. Figured I'd check in on the board but I most likely will be taking a huge step back. It was so refreshing playing actual cards rather then online. Talking over a bonfire and having some beers vs. being in a crowded bar tied to my phone. I recommend it to everyone.
  23. But But But why should they have to budget their money. All employers should pay EVERY employee enough to live in a 2 bedroom penthouse, drive a new caddy, have a flat screen TV with the maxed out cable package and eat out at the latest hippest bar every night with enough money left over to buy their kids and their baby mommas all the diamonds they could ask for.
  24. Save your holier then thou attitude, no one is buying it and at 17 you are basically an adult anyway so this whole "respect your elders" is laugable. In 6 months Zimmerman is no longer his elder as he is offically an adult. If I'm walking home and some asshole is following me I don't care what age I am, I say something. Now what happens from there who knows, I hope it doesn't lead to a situation like this. Hindsight is 20/20. Just like road rage, bar fights etc. these things spin out of control very quickly. Thankfully they rarely lead in the death of someone but when they do it usually me
