  1. No, we are comparing legalized drugs that the pharmaceutical companies pay million of dollars to lobbyists to get rapid FDA approval without complete testing to an illegal drug that was shut down by congress because of the lumber lobbyists 60+ years ago. And, since you brought it up, isn't there a state in the union that allows a qualified doctor to prescribe the "recreational drug" for a medical condition? I seem to remember hearing that somewhere....

The comment about pot is irrelevant to the issue.

The problem is that the drug companies push their product to market and court the doctors to get them to prescribe them. Too many people have faith in their doctors and will take what ever miracle pill they are given because the doctor says so. A lot of folks don't read the side effects or even discuss them with their doctor. People are in pain or suffering and want to feel "normal" again and they are willing to do almost anything if it will help. This is changing as more of the public becomes informed, but it is not as pervasive as we would like to believe.

Most medications treat the symptom and not the disease. I can't think of any pill that will cure a disease. They will help with the pain, energy levels, depression, cravings, etc, but in exchange it may give you a list of other symptoms that there is another pill to treat. It's circular logic that funds bank accounts around the world.

Do medications help people? Yes they can. Does everyone suffer the side effects from every drug? No they don't. Is it worth the risk? That is up to the individual to decide. Does it hurt anyone to make the information about possible side effects available to the public at large so that they can make an informed decision about the pros and cons of a medication should, God forbid, they are ever in a position where they have to make that decision? I would hope not.

    Great post!!!!

I for one appreciate the warnings. I don't care to be someones guinea pig!!!

as for Chantix, I've known toooo many people who have taken it and have had a complete personality change, along with some mighty freaky dreams and insomnia.

  2. Hi Folks I'm new here... just stumbled upon this board doing research for a possible book about the SO 242 crash back in 77... terrible thing..

I'm hoping that I can post a couple of images here that may help folks figure out just where the crash occurred....

the first picture shows a diagram of how the crash unfolded once the A/C began to get tangled in power lines and making major impacts... the first thing of significance was the power pole at the corner of the Amoco station (gone now, but easy to see where it was by comparing the OLD 92 Connector that came into spur 92(now 381) at an angle(plainly visible in the aerial view)... the road now intersects straight on... about even with the old fire station, and the "angle" is now a dead end...

It then snagged an embankment/trees just past the old firehouse, which yanked it to the left into the gas pumps and awning of Newman's Store (now the Karate School), it spun on up the road, beginning to break apart, past 3 houses, then broke up and burned in the front yard/trees of the 4th house(which sits further back from the road) and the side yard of the 5th...

    gallery_164_32_212947.jpg

this second image is an aerial view of the scene taken the next next morning(note that the power pole at the Amoco has been replaced, but as yet is still bare)... this one really pinpoints the location of the now gone Amoco, but the pole is till there.... the remains of Newman's store can be plainly seen (where the Karate School is now) and the bigger pieces of wreckage can be spotted amongst the pines in the yards of houses 4 & 5...

I am definitely planning to be at the showing of the documentary on 4/5 and will also be in the area on 4/4... would REALLY like to hook up with someone who was alive and living in the area at the time for some guidance and confirmation of the events that transpired in the area... please feel free to contact me via this board with any comments or information you think may help my quest for info... it's been over 30 yrs and though the memories of such an event never fade, those who harbor the memories unfortunately do...

    S.Judd

edited to say... both these images are the same size... one is posting MUCH smaller than the other... I'll work on getting the Aerial view so it will display lager when clicked on like the diagram....

    Welcome to Pcom.

Glad I got the opportunity to meet you today!

  3. What a great idea!! I know I'm tramatizing my 5 year old son. I just rip them bad boys out and I know I grab a few strands of hair while I'm at it. :( He just cries and cries.:( I'm going to try that the next time I see one.

Shan, you need to be really careful doing this. I had always heard to remove them gently so you won't leave any of the head, but I never you had to worry about this:

    http://dermatology.about.com/cs/miscellaneous/a/tick.htm

The best way to remove a tick is to pull it off gently, leaving the tick and its mouth parts intact. This can be difficult because some ticks cement their mouth parts into the skin. Every effort should be made to remove this cement if it does not come out with the tick. Applying heat, alcohol, petroleum jelly or fingernail polish to an embedded tick is not effective.

  4. Get your gun (you DO own a gun right?) and the next time you catch them in your yard, tell them to "stop or I'll shoot". If they move, fire ONE warning shot and if they continue to move, wing 'em. Then you call the SO and tell them to pick them up. I'm sure the SO will find something valuable of yours near them on the ground that they dropped when you told them to stop. (wink, wink) Then post about how they whined about you not letting them go, and how YOUR property was in THEIR way.

    Thieves. Gotta stop 'em. :-)

    Love it!!

  5. My family loves Maron's burgers!! (We've usually do the carry-out) Very thick and very juicy. Don't forget to get plenty of napkins!

If you don't call the order in, expect to wait a bit. From what I've seen, she makes them as ordered and everyone knows that takes awhile, but they are sooo worth the wait!!!!

  6. honestly is he hurting anything?

Goodness good thing it doesnt snow everyday......

I wouldnt either and wouldnt allow my kids.....

Guess what got me was getting on here to "warn" the parents of said kids in others yards. I mean if he left when ask then no problem right? he did want you wanted LEFT.......

I lived in a neighborhood, still have a rental house in one.....I was thinking of this one "instance" not all the issues people have to deal with. I didn't haven any issues with the kids in my old neighborhood, for one there weren't many.

You do know you just opened yourself up to an impromptu M&G in your yard don't you???

It'll only be one time. we promise! ;)

  7. Glad all worked out with your family member! Thankfully, the few contacts I've had with LE have been positive. I had to call a few months back asking for a welfare check on a family member. I was worried about feeling like a complete idiot, but the lady who answered the call was extremely nice and did her best to set my mind at ease. As for the officer that responded, he was at the home within minutes and even let my family member use his phone to call me!!!!

  8. I got this off of myspace but it was funny and I thought I would share!

    BEST FAIRY TALE EVER!!

TEACH THEM THIS WHILE THEY ARE YOUNG!!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl, "Will you marry me?'"

    The girl said: "NO!"

And the girl lived happily ever after and went shopping,

dancing, camping, drank martinis, ate chocolate,

always had a clean house, never had to cook, did whatever

the hell she wanted, never argued, didn't get fat,

traveled more, had many lovers, didn't save money,

and had all the hot water to herself.

She went to the theater, never watched wrestling,

never wore friggin' lacy lingerie that went up her ass,

had high self esteem, never cried or yelled,

felt and looked fabulous in sweat pants and was pleasant all the time.

    THE END
