  1. The tornadic activity was no where near Bebe...
  2. The hardest part is watching him walk away... Those touched by deployments know the true meaning of that phrase... I hope he comes back to you safe.
  3. The U.S. government has apologized for experiments in which government researchers used prostitutes to deliberately infect prison inmates in Guatemala with syphilis In addition to the penitentiary, the studies took place in an insane asylum and an army barracks," Reverby said in a release. "Although these events occurred more than 64 years ago, we are outraged that such reprehensible research could have occurred under the guise of public health. We deeply regret that it happened, and we apologize to all the individuals who were affected by such abhorrent research practices."
  4. The driver is fine, just sore. It's a miracle judging from the way his SUV was destroyed... He is very blessed.
  5. He does try to take in players already have homes.
  6. Active duty military children are exempt from this new law (for now)..
  7. I thought a full article copy/paste was against the rules... As far as the book goes, if it did reveal military secrets and put our military in harm - I'm ok with the new edited version. One man's material gain is not worth placing a single military member in harm's way.
  8. Hmm ..Didn't know they could win their region after they have already been beaten by a team within the region. It's all about perspective. Some would say State Ring determines a Championship. Some would say most scholarships. Some would say sportsmanship, Some might even say GPA. There is an intercounty cup which covers all extra activities - it has been around for awhile. Sports is not just football. .there are many many more. I do believe the cup also covers sportsmanship. Which should be the most important part of what these students are taught. Scholarships/winning season are bo
  9. I'm confused.. This was not a 'cup' game right? Maybe I am wrong but I thought there was only one intercounty cup but it includes all sports and has sportsmanship as one of the requirements. I don't think East won that cup last year, I think it was Hiram. South Paulding had the most college scholarship signees from football, which is really what the ultimate goal is...right? East can not win their region since Kell has already beaten them. What's all the fuss about again?
  10. When the kids were little, I strung clothes line rope from one end of the wall to the other and I clothes-pinned their new art work. It held a lot of their masterpieces and the new art was easily added/displayed.
  11. When I was in private (Church of Christ) school.. There was not a prom it was banquet. You had no music or dancing at the official school activity. Afterwards, we partied at local hotel rooms.. lol. I was a Mormon attending a CoC school. It was very entertaining sometimes. There were always fundraisers. (I miss World's Finest Chocolate Almond bars and Pizza kits!) Rules, rules and more rules.. IF you think that is bad.. just wait until you send him to a Private College.
  12. Peach Melba Rum Coolers in the 80s Resturants: Tulsa Oklahoma - Casa Bonita! Loved, loved, loved the cave. Swenson's Ice cream - loved the triangle wafers

  14. I do not miss the close to $400.00+ electric bills. Love the fact that our utilities are included in the payment. The house is set at a comfortable 62 degrees...
  15. That is great that the Ruritan clubs are non-profit. All of the Rec parks getting money from the SPLOST should be required to be non-profit. www.guidestar.com provides a listing of the non profits in our area. The Industrial Building Authority was the one giving NH the sweetheart deal on their land, I do believe. Seems to me the park is profitable now, and can afford to pay like everyone else- esp since the local government is wanting more and more of everyone's money.
  16. Sorry.. for the local Rec parks.. Hiram Hornet, Raiders Youth league, New Hope, South Paulding Bears, etc... They should all be required to be a registered non-profit organizaion in order to get the SPLOST funding. Their budgets should be open records. Some of them are already following this procedure but not all. Since about 1987 -New Hope Park is actually on government owned property with a long term very friendly lease. Do the other parks enjoy this perk as well?
  17. If the Rec parks are receiving funds why are they not required to be registered with the IRS as non-profit? Why are their budgets/spending not a matter of public record? Why are all of the parks not treated equally? For instance, if park ABC gets a very nice long term contract to use the governement property at a greatly reduced costs then why do they still get their share of the tax? Aren't they double dipping? The other parks have to pay for their property without the benefit of the dirt cheap contract on the land.
  18. Villa Rica police told Fox 5 that four teenagers were inside the home at the time. The 17-year-old boy and a girl were handling the pistol when the gun “somehow went off,” investigators told Fox 5. http://www.ajc.com/news/teen-shot-killed-in-538145.html
  19. I may be old fashioned.. but generally paying off the debts you incur is the best practice and the most morally sound. It's much like shoplifting. Just sayin'.
