I ran across this article and thought that perhaps others would find it helpful. It is good information for those dealing with cancer in their lives, and the uncertainty that comes along with the diagnosis.

I would also like to judge interest in a cancer specific forum. Maybe if there is enough interest, PUBBY could accommodate such a group forum.

I think this is an excellent idea. It may also help folks find a Doc that can help them. I have a friend that was told by 2 Docs that he would be dead in a year. He networked and found a different Doc and is still alive after 5 years.

You are right LR! I had forgotten about the Relay For Life forum. I think it is a great idea. There are so many people whose lives are touched by cancer in one way or another. Personally, I have so much cancer on both sides of my family that my family tree would literally look like a Christmas tree lit up on Christmas Eve. I currently have 4 people in my family battling cancer. I just lost my Mom this past summer and my uncle last summer - both from lung cancer.

BUT, I think it should be a optional forum for those who do not wish to read/participate in the discussions. A lot of people are not comfortable with the whole cancer topic.

Maybe we can get PUBBY to chime in.

I have 2 family members battling it now. I have lost 2 friends and a beloved cousin to it this year. Yes, I think it is a good idea.

My aunt was diagnosed with colorectal cancer 3 years ago and it has been a struggle ever since. She isn't able to leave the house much due to gastrointestinal issues. She never was able to attend any groups and felt alone in her fight. I think if she had of been able to connect with people in her position she would've been more prepared for what was to come. It would have been especially beneficial in those wee hours when she was awake from pain & nausea & had no one to speak with. I think it would be GREAT!

Aw, LR - I'm sure it was a bittersweet journey! Most days of the week I still find myself "reliving" my Mom's last 26months of life.

I tried to find someone to chat with here about my B.C. back in June .I got a few responses from some wonderful people here full of encouragement. This lead me to search for other groups out there.
Now I am done with surgeries, and chemo. and half way through radiation. I would love to add some links to sites where I found lots of information and support for myself.
I did get many responses from folks here that helped me find financial support as well.
Thanks again to those who responded.

This board can be a huge support system..

it was for me.

Paulding Mom... if I remember correctly you posted your topic in the ladies forum.

so that made the support limited.. as a lot of women do not have the password or the forum turned on.

I am so glad you are half way finished.. if you turn the forum on that I linked above I am sure your links would be welcomed for those who need it.
