The lady takes stray animals in and takes care of them, most of them are cats, she had 4 total she lives on a fixed income, well one of the kittens was sick she did not have the money to have it put to sleep, so one of the animal control employees went to the shelter on Sunday and the lady met her up there and she put the cat to sleep, however before she did that she found out the cat was not caught up on its rabies shot,so she fined the lady 108.00 so she turned the lady in, the lady was then fined by a judge over 600.00.
The lady can not pay the fine, and the judge told her she could work it off on community service..
This will make people weary of taking in stray animals for fear of not knowing the animals' history.
and they will be held responsible for the pet.

Ah, justice... What a bitch.
I have been assured by a very knowing American of my acquaintance in London, that a young healthy child well nursed is at a year old a most delicious, nourishing, and wholesome food, whether stewed, roasted, baked, or boiled; and I make no doubt that it will equally serve in a fricassee or a ragout.

That is sad and I don't know the whole story, but I think there is a pretty large fine for operating a rescue without a license. Not saying that is the case here, but there has to be more to the story. Neglect or something for that kind of fine..
ETA: If it was so sick that it had to be put to sleep right away, I'm guessing there were probably neglect or cruelty charges. I don't think a rabies fine would be that high... But I could be wrong. If it really was just for rabies, that is extremely high.

This is 1 reason why, some people dump their animals on the side of the road. Was it all that necessary that the animal control worker, give the lady a citation??? For goodness sakes, the lady was putting the cat out of it's misery, doing what she thought was best for the cat. Some people need to have a heart!!!!

Another idiot law that needs to be revised.
