Upgrades are always fraught with niggling little things that come across like game-changing horrific, destructive problems.

Yep, we had one here caused by colored membership names and the parsing of topics that seem to be missing this code: </span> ... yep, IE takes that missing </span> code seriously in the new board whereas it didn't make any difference with the old board. FF worked right through it and others browsers seemed unfazed.

Bottom line, it should be fixed.

Blame me for not catching it sooner but ... and you're going to love this ... I did a search a day or two ago on the IPB board and didn't see the issue but when I logged on minutes ago to report the 'bug' ... there, at the top of the IPB support forum was a guy talking how IE7 was going bonkers ... Little did he know that IE does too.

I think it may be fixed but you're browser is still getting stuff from the cache.

I saw that because I was having the big white space issue you reported in my IE8 ... and now it is long-gone - fixed.

I am currently using FF, and I am getting everything fine on FF. But a few minutes ago I went on to my IE and I was still getting the long spaces and broken pages. I believe mine is IE7.

Upgrade to IE8 and see if that fixes it.

Kind of jumped the gun a bit announcing the fix was 'in' ... it was for all the premium colored names but the most populous ... member plus + ... Yep, I failed to put the </span> code in the suffix when I went in to edit the bunch of them.

Anytime any premium member with a name that appeared in a color other than black posted, it would break the frame and that resulted in tons of white space.

Hopefully now it is resolved.

Can't we gather from all this that IE sucks and everyone should have moved to FF long ago?

And people still use AOL?
I have been assured by a very knowing American of my acquaintance in London, that a young healthy child well nursed is at a year old a most delicious, nourishing, and wholesome food, whether stewed, roasted, baked, or boiled; and I make no doubt that it will equally serve in a fricassee or a ragout.

Dangit -- I was hoping a select few would get "lost" in transition

Yes, some of us still use IE and aol. Odd as it might sound, there are lots of us out here and there.

I updated my IE to IE8 and so far it seems to be working good. Keepin fingers crossed for good overall results.

I do like the new look, that of it that I have seen, so hope all goes well now on mine end so I can enjoy the rest of pcom as usual.

I was going to give your post a positive vote, but I've apparently met my quota for the day.

So I'll star bump instead!

I am having only one tiny problem and that is I can't use the fast reply feature. But you know what, who cares. I love the new look, and I think it's easier to use in some ways. Like the drop down at the top with all my info in it. Brilliant. I also love how the advertising is there but doesn't overwhelm the board. I find the colors very pleasing to the eye and everything is so calm and easy to read. I am using Google Chrome as a browser. It's wonderful. I've been using it for several months and I won't use anything else. IE 7,8,9,17.2,20.6,100.54 are all da debil.

Mark, all I have to do is click in the little box and start typing. Fast reply is always there for me. Maybe it's in your settings?? I know there used to be a box you could check that said you wanted to use Fast Reply when it was available. :)

I get the fast reply box. It just doesn't actually add the reply. If this post is successful it will have worked for the first time.

And that's only because I'm stupid and can't read. Works fine now. So I officially have no problems with the new Pcom using Google Chrome. LOVE IT!!!
