*CC APPROVED*

At the Simple Gospel Food Pantry me and my wife Charlies Angels are wanting to make sure that those less fortunate than others or are just down on their luck have a Thanksgiving meal.

a medium size turkey
stuffing
corn
mac and cheese
and potatoes

the desert we already give them on fridays

The part I want the opinion on is if anyone would be willing to sponsor a family, this will be anonimous and the families will not know until the friday before Thanksgiving so we don't get over run with people out for a free meal.

We are expecting up to 40 families, I am going to check into the price but I know it will cost alot for that many meals is why I am looking for sponsors, the food pantry is a year round resource so I really don't want to take that much away from that and I personally can't afford it so is there anybody that would help out.

Time is getting close so I would need to know pretty quick, and I can't stand the thought of someone doing without so if you are blessed bless someone else.

Thank You
Charlie

you can pm if you want or respond in this post and me or Darlene will be in contact

I thought I understood it that they (Charlie's food pantry) were going to cook it, but maybe I was mistaken.

Actually, I would think that people could either donate the items to make the meal or contribute money towards the purchase of the items.

This is a fantastic idea Charlie!! good.gif

I am not sure of the cost, I am going to go tommorrow and get a price, I am thinking $20 - $25 would cover it

Maybe it's because it is late but my brain does not seem to be engaging. I just want to confirm - you are asking for one of the following:
1) a cash donation of approx $20-$25 (with the amount to be confirmed tomorrow) OR
2) an actual food donation of ingredients to be given to the families OR
3) an actual Thanksgiving meal purchased already prepared

Is that correct?

We, The General and I and a few other pcommers are sponsoring about 3 families, we will have a total of 3 turkey's (Me, Construction Teacher and Matthews Piglet) and side items from various other pcommers as well. You can look fo the thread. I'll keep in touch, to be sure we don't duplicate, OK?

They need it by Nov.20th . Money for them to buy the food to give to the families, or you buy the food and bring to the church for one family or buy one already cooked and bring to the church to give to the family. Hope this helps. tongue.gif tongue.gif

Yes that is correct, if you decide to purchase one already prepared I ask not to do so until that friday due to refridgeration space.

Thanks

We are doing this for the families that come to Simple Gospel food pantry. If you have plans for other families by all means proceed with that. We are not trying to step in on that. We are just asking if anyone wants to sponcer for families we have come on Friday nights,we could use the help. But again not trying to take anything from what you are doing. Most of our families have either lost jobs or spouces, and have no clue what to do. We are just wanting to help them have a happy holiday season and be blessed. But yes if you want to speak with us and let us know who you are helping that will be fine too. We want to help all that we can.

OK I went today and checked the prices, it will cost $25 to purchase the unprepared meal.

The price of the turkey is the most expensive, so if it is a stretch for the entire meal and you want to donate the turkey that would be great. Those who have already gave money, thank you. We are trying to purchase enough to feed 40 families, we have about 5 spoken for so if you want to donate let me know by Nov 16 so we can see how much we have.

Thank You and God Bless You and your family

Quick question. Have you checked with some of the grocery stores to see if they'll give you a deal on the turkeys? They usually go on sale near Thanksgiving and end up not being so expensive. I'm going to check on something with a friend of mine about the potatoes. How many pounds do you think you would need?

No we have not yet, we are going to check with the store we always purchase our food for the food pantry and see what they will do.
Potatoes, I was thinking a five pound bag for each family, it is a little much but it would be easier than trying to seperate them

The Friday before thanksgiving would be almost 1 week prior. Will the turkeys keep until you can get them distributed?? Do you have freezer space to keep them if they are delivered earlier?? Just need to get the questions out there.

Count us in for a gift card, do you have a store preference??

Yes they should keep, we do have freezer space but it is limited, as far as a gift card that will be great, thank you so much, the store does not matter, just where we can get the most for the money.

That's probably the best price you're going to find on a turkey. (In this day and time)

Walmart in Hiram had turkeys for .60 cents a pound this weekend. I've got one for you and I'm going to see if I can get another one today. I need to get them to you asap because I have no room for the second one.

Where and when do you want to meet me??

I have the gift card, too.

I grabbed a turkey for .40 a pound last week at Walmart. (already gave it away though)
If i can find another one for a decent price, I'd love to help out with your mission.

I'll be able to let you know by the end of today.

cool. put me down for 4 extra boxes of potatoes.

I'll put two boxes with my order...and have the four other boxes to go with someone else's order if they need it.
