If the power company would be willing to work with him on the reconnection fee, maybe this is a possibility. I would be willing to donate what I could toward it. Wouldn't be much, but a little from many would make a lot. And, maybe enough could be collected to pay for a couple of months until he gets back on his feet. I don't have any wood to donate, but I would like to do something. We never know when it could be any one of us. I have always heard the majority of American's are 3 paychecks away from being homeless. Please let me know what I can do.

Thanks Karen. I will let you know something soon.

I hate hearing about this. I don't have anything you have to give him.

What can I give?

Thanks to all who reached out. clapping.gif good.gif He now has wood to heat and cook with, a heater to help also. When we pulled up to unload the wood he was all but wrapped around the kerosine heater, he really apriciates everyone helping him.

We will pick up the rest of the tommorrow, he is excited that he was going to be able to have a cup of coffee and a bowl of grits in the morning to warm himself up.

Things most of us take for granted he is excited about - when we think we have it bad you can look around and see someone has it worse.

God's blessings to everyone who is trying to help and praying for this man.

Thnak You

It will still stand, unless we sell out of our seasoned. I would not want to send him fresh wood that would not burn. But we still have lots left so I dont see that happening. Just let me know when he needs and we will take him some. Thanks for helping the people who really need it.

God Bless you FBI Lady. That would be great . I don't know about the size of his coat but I know that he is really slim. You can call Darlene at 404- 304- 9894. There would be no better gift in this cold weather than a good warm coat. We just wish he had a job interview to go to. You know his situation makes me think of a little child trying to learn to walk. You can't walk for them all you can do is pick them up when they fall and try to get them back on their feet. That is what this man needs just someone to help him get back on his feet. May God Bless you for your loving kindness for this man. tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif

Thank you ladybug for your willing heart but like Darlene said if he can't keep it payed they will only cut him off again. She said the power company wants over $500.00 just to turn it back on. I am going to call home depot tomorrow and ask how much 5 gallon of kerosene is and try to keep him in fuel for his kerosene heater. Darlene said the reason that no one will help him is because he lives by himself and doesn't have a wife and kids. Don't they know that anyone can be hungry and cold ? I don't know if the cc could work anything out for him or not. All I can tell you now is to pray for him that things will get better for him.I wrote your name down and I am pretty sure that Darlene will read your post tonight when she gets home from church. Just keep check on here I don't know if we can do any more or not. You are right God is good all of the time and we are a blessed people to have heat, food, and shelter. May God bless you for your willingness to help and I will keep your name. tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif Keep smiling.

I did get him one of those things they sell in the hunting/camping section at walmart. It is suppossed to heat water up by solar ( sun). It holds 5 gallons of water and you lay it in the sun for 3 hours and it heats the water up. So maybe this will help him get a warm bath. I am going to try and talk with a local hotel/motel to see what they would charge to let him shower at least a couple of times a week. So we will see how that goes.
Oh and he said THANKS to eveyone who is helping him out. He was so happy about being able to stay warm. He told me Sunday he stayed warm all night Saturday. Thanks again so much to all who are helping him. We are going to find him a job somewhere to help him get it all together again.

Does anyone know who sells kerosene that won't rob you? I called hd and they want$ 9.50 for one gallon.[ Unbelieveable] that is about 3 times what premium gas is . I was going to get him a five gallon can because I bought it from them years ago in the five gallon can. He said they were out of five gallon cans but they had1gallon cans for $9.48 a gallon. I know a place they use to sell it where you brought your own can and pumped it for you . Don't know if they are still in business or not. If you know of a place that is cheaper please post on here or send me a PM please. Don't know if you would be allowed to post the name on here . Thanks. tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif Keep smiling.

I have a battery operated lantern that I could send along with a supply of batteries.

LauraLeigh That would be great if you would send me a Pm on how to get the light from you sometime tomorrow I would be glad to see that he gets it. You will be letting your light shine in two ways . By lighting up his house and showing your love at the same time. I will get in touch tomorrow after you Pm me. Thanks God Bless. tongue.gif tongue.gif I know this will make him smile.

He is staying warm for now. But if anyone knows of a job that he could get in walking distance of the Ingles in Dallas please let me know. All he needs to make it is $100.00 a week. That will give him lot rent and the ability to pay his power bill each month. He is willing to do anything right now.

He owes it to greystone. His original bill is like $199 ( I think have to double check this again) however they want a reconnection fee of like $500.00. But my biggest concern is getting him a job to keep it up each month. I would hate to do all this and then it get cut right back off, because he has no way to pay it. I am trying to find him a job in walking distance. All he needs to make it is around $100.00 a week. That would pay his lot rent ( he owns the trailor- but not the land it sits on) and keep his power on.

Has anyone thought of doing some sort of Pedge Drive to help this man pay his power and lot rent? I am able to organize Online Pledge Drives that can benefit any person or organization (not strictly for non-profits).
