I met with a customer today that thought he had all of his bases covered in regards to backing up data. He had 2 hard drives installed in his computer with one of them set to automatically back-up (or mirror) the other. He also had an external drive that automatically performed a back-up. Unfortunately he lost all 3 due to storm damage and all of his precious data is gone.

On-site back-up is only the first step of a good back-up plan. Everyone needs a off-site back-up solution if there is data on your computer that you do not want to lose. Carbonite.com and Mozy.com are two companies that provide an off-site solution. Please do not wait until it is to late.

But, with the way the economy is right now, not too many people can afford the extra expenses of using an offsite backup. How much should we expect to pay for this type of service?? tia

Both services charge around $60/year. Mozy gives you up to 2GB for free.
