Both of my parents went to South Cobb High School, as did my husband, my sister and my step-brother. My husband was going to take our son to the game on Friday, and numerous people said that they would not go and that he should not take our son. Now I know the place has changed but would they not be safe at the ballgame? Has there been any issue with this school and ours at past ballgames?

Please give me your input..

There is no reason not to go. It is fine, no different then any other school in the area. I know plenty of people who teach and coach there and you could argue we have more problems at county schools then they do.

Its not like your thinking about going down to watch two Atlanta City schools play at Lakewood. Which in my mind still isnt bad, I really felt very comfortable there.

High school sporting events are very safe, no need to worry about this kind of stuff.

We got wanded last year at a PCHS football game before entering. I would think you might want to worry a bit at some of these games. They checked our bags also.

I'll be going, my son is #84. I feel safe going. It's not like we are going to Douglas County High School. Plus, there are always deputies at the game and we bring our own as well.

I've never, ever had any problems there and never felt uncomfortable. Cobb County's finest are always present and visible at any sporting event here, regardless of where it's played. Plus, you folks will no doubt bring a great crowd.

I didn't know this school had gotten that bad.

We went to the Hiram/ Booker T Washington a couple of weeks age and it was fine. We did have to go through metal detectors though.

You can always go and get a feel for it before you enter. If you don't feel safe, then leave. Otherwise, stay and cheer on your team. smile.gif

You must not go to many sporting events, pro or college, they usually check bags everywhere. Some high schools are even starting to go towards that. It should actually make you feel safer one would think.

South Cobb is probably safer than EPHS, AND THEY made AYP. rolleyes.gif
