Does anyone know where you can buy used college text books locally, other than a college bookstore? They do have the books online at Amazon and other places, but we need the books sooner than can be shipped.

If anyone might have any for sale, we're looking for Basic College Mathmatics (8th Ed.) and Film Art an Introduction (8th Ed).

Can you give a better description of the title. Do you have your schedule or syllabus, maybe the IBN number too.

I always use Direct Textbook.com . It's a clearinghouse for textbooks and will give you the price from all the internet stores so you can find the lowest.

Half.com is listed there, but they haven't always been the lowest for me.

For speed, though, some of them offer overnight.

I did check at half.com, all the online places for ordering, and while I can get books at good prices, the shipping time is the problem. We couldn't find out the books neeed for class before class started, so we need them, like, now.

The Math is Math 097, or Math 111. The ISBN# 0-618-50305-6
The other is Digital Media Technology 101. ISBN# 0-07-353506-0

Thanks, I will check them out.

I know I don't have the digital media, but I'll go in the attic tomorrow and check the math books.

If I have them I'll pm you.

Yes, and also there is a textbook rental place close to Kennestone as well. But the good thing about the General Book store (across from KSU) is they will buy your books back at 1/2 the new price (even if you buy it used) as long as a professor will be using it the next semester.

yes, but I would call ahead first and make sure they carry that book, b/c they typically only carry what KSU will be using, maybe a few extras.

Do you know the name of the book rental store? I've tried to Google it, but can't seem to find anything. Thanks.

I have several used and new college text books, too many to list. Just email me and I will see if I have it PimmyGA@aol.com. Or I have them on Amazon as well if you want to go there and look first.

Thanks

You'd probably have better luck using the ISBN numbers. Alot of times titles of college books are sooooo close.

unfortunately, in the world of college texts, usually your options are going to be:
1. pay full price at the campus bookstore
2. get discounted books online and wait a week or so for shipping
3. check the campus bulletin boards for students with books for sale

i usually plan ahead and know what i am taking next semester and order the books online. After taking the course, i then sell it back thru half.com or amazon used, etc for the same or more, and my net cost for texts is $0. Be careful during summer and fall terms, that is when the new book versions come out. If there is a question about a new version or which version being used, i email the instructor and find out which book he/she plans to use.

directtextbook.com is ok, but i have had better luck with ebay, allbookstores.com, abebooks.com, & amazon's used section for texts.
