This is a staple at all of our family dinners.

Orange Congealed Salad

1 sm. can crushed drained pineapple
1 sm. cottage cheese
1 sm. cool whip
1 cup chopped pecans
1 sm. box orange jello

mix all ingredients and chill.

You can use any flavor jello but the orange is my favorite.

Yum... Myra's Recipe .... I don't have the recipe on me but it's got strawberries, pineapple, pecans, and sour cream. If you're interested I'll look for it and post it tomorrow. Myra was my mother-in-law and she' no longer with us, but it was a yummy addition to our holiday meal!!

It's good because kids love it too! I used to look at my Grandmothers congealed salads every holiday with disgust... wacko.gif Now, 20 some odd years later, she makes this instead!

I don't have any to offer because I HATE jello salad! This goes back to when I was 9 and had my appendix out, and all I could eat for several days was jello and clear broth. I've never liked jello since.

But check this website out. Looks like they might have some wonderful ones there. smile.gif

This is my favorite Thanksgiving dessert. I can do without the turkey, as long as I have the cranberry salad. The recipe says whipped topping, and I use Dream Whip for this. I guess you could use Cool Whip, but that stuff makes me want to gag.

FROSTED CRANBERRY SALAD

1 (13 1/2 oz.) can crushed pineapple
2 (3 oz.) pkgs. lemon Jello
1 (7 oz.) bottle Ginger Ale
1 (1 lb.) can (2 c.) jellied cranberry sauce
1 (8 oz.) pkg. whipped topping
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1/2 c. chopped pecans

Drain pineapple, reserve syrup; add water to make 1 cup; heat to boil. Dissolve Jello in hot liquid; cool. Gently stir in Ginger Ale. Chill until partially set. Blend pineapple and cranberry sauce; fold into Jello. Pour into 9 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Chill until firm.
Blend whipped topping and cream cheese, spread over chilled-firm Jello. Toast pecans in 1 tablespoon butter at 350 degrees for 10 minutes, sprinkle on top. Chill.

This one is definitely slap your Granny good! This is a staple at any and all food events in my family. When my mom wouldn't eat anything else, she would eat this. My daughter loves it and since we're having Thanksgiving dinner with her and her hubby, I guess I'll just have to make some for her.

Do you know if this recipe can be placed in a mold and unmolded on a plate?
