What's for dinner tonight?

I had a dentist appointment this morning, and I have to go within 3 blocks of Patak Meats on the way to and from my dentist's office. So, I went by there on my way home and picked up some yummies.

I bought a pound of Bohemia Smokies sausages. Stopped by Publix and bought a loaf of dark rye bread, a large can of sauerkraut, and some fresh green beans.

Came home and sliced up the sausages. Put 'em in a big pot with a little water and cooked 'em for about 10 minutes. Took 'em out and put three cloves of crushed garlic and 1 small chopped onion in the pot they came from, and let that cook until the onions started to get translucent. Mmmmmm...it smelled good.

Opened the can of sauerkraut and drained it really well. Dumped that in with the garlic and onions, and added 1 can of beer. Oh, and TWO FRESH BAY LEAVES!! Added the sausage back and have had it simmering ever since.

Meanwhile, I trimmed my fresh green beans and added them to a pot with a little water, a small chopped onion, and 1 smoked ham hock. They've been simmering, too. In a while I'm gonna slice up the rye bread in big fat slices and toast it a bit in the oven to go with our dinner. Super-easy, and it should be YUMMY!

So what are you having tonight?

dinner? Getting a late start I guess. Probably pork chops and some random veggies. I wub.gif fresh veggies and stocked up recently, so I'll let Dd pick them out. She's on a broccoli kick though, and I don't think I have any cheese to go with it. unsure.gif

Mmmmmmmmmmm...that sounds good too! Hubby and I went shopping yesterday and picked up a ham we're gonna do on the grill soon. I like to grill fresh pineapple with mine. I wonder, can't you still get fresh pineapple?

These all sound good!

I think we're having Fiesta Chicken (chicken breasts sauteed and then cooked with Rotel, topped with green onions and black olives and of course melted cheddar cheese), rice and then a really good mix of black beans and corn that I happened upon the other day in the frozen food section at the store.

Of course, this is all dependent upon me getting said breasts out of the freezer - the chicken, not mine.

I LOVE tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. They remind me of my childhood! wub.gif

Sometimes my Mom would mix it up and make cream of tomato soup--where you add milk instead of water to the Campbell's condensed soup.

WOW...even typing that felt like going back to pre-school! wub.gif

want to trade? I got more in the freezer! smile.gif

I've been making a spicy grilled cheese lately that is just too good for words (and messy too)! Might have to do that for dinner tomorrow with creamy tomato soup. Thanks Everyone! ... I hear the rain will continue tomorrow and I just love the "comfort" food when it is grey outside! smile.gif
