Why so little support ? Heart Walk 2004

Heart Walk 2004 was last Saturday at the Hiram Silver Comet Trailhead.

Paulding & Douglas County together was about 250 people.

And the total raised so fair in Paulding County is far less than the $50,000 goal. I think at last count it was about $30,000.

What does the American Heart Association need to do in Paulding County to get more prople involved and to raise at least 10% of what Relay for Life raises ?

Cancer is the number 2 cause of death in the USA. Heart Attack is number 1, and stroke is number 3. Relay raised over $400,000 again this last year. sad.gif

How about some comments and suggestions people ?

While there's not doubt that American Heart Association is a worthy charity, I think the problem is that there are so many other charities competing for the same dollars.

Outside of P.com, I don't remember any advertising for the Heartwalk.

You can't avoid advertisement for the Relay every year.

Just my thoughts.

To add another example.

Last weekend was the Heart Walk.

This weekend is an Humane Society BBQ (Mt. Tabor) - Learned about here.
Also this weekend - Republican Chili Cookoff (Paulding Meadows) - Learned about via real-estate type signs.

The weekend after - Some Childrens advocacy thing - learned hear from TBAR's post.

Yes, there are many other worthy events, I am just trying to get an idea of why so much for RFL and so little for everything else ?

Seems RLF has lots of promotion and competition among schools agencies, etc.

How much promotion was done?

Like I said, I don't remember seeing anything except what was on P.com.
