The dissention has reached new levels.

We'll shut this turkey down for 20 mintues to let everyone cool off begining at 12:30 pm today if there are 50 votes to do so shortly.

What most folks don't really realize is that it really is BETTER TO WALK AWAY and not worry about it.

Why don't you post a thread that you want it to stop now and anyone who continues to bicker about it will be suspended for a week.... flex those power muscles pubby.... Why punish everyone when those who won't stop on both sides are the ones that should be punished....

"I'll add that AJH"

MISTY:

That would be the note after the cooling off period/shut down ...

anyone continuing to post in specified topics would be bulleted ... but that would appear on the front of the site.

Pubby, at a time I was considering upgrading my membership here to a paid commercial member, it's not enlightening to see that you are considering shutting down the site because of improper moderation. Being a moderator of other non-related sites, it's a neccessary evil to punish a few, not the masses.

I have decided to hold off on upgrading for now to see what plays out. Personally, I can see spending my time and money on advertising for a site that gets shut down on a regular basis.

Ladies...

maybe but what happens at 3 p.m. when I have to go get my kid and the idiots start a new rampage.

Is guilt by association the key? Who expects me to nail every account with a sheep in it closed? How about a wolf in it?

I can't do that. I won't do that.

You've decided to divide and expect me to take sides when I know damn good and well that no one is 'right' and everybody, to one degree or another, is wrong. Perfection eludes us all whether we want to admit it or not.

So, what is the crime? What exactly have people done except bicker constantly? Some of the comments might border on personal attacks but rules and violating rules and documenting the violation of rules is the standard and anything I do now is going to deviate from that standard and be unfair.

I know that but people don't want fairness, they simply want to win and they figure that if I am forced to choose one side or the other, they'll win and someone will lose.

Well, I'm here to tell you that when if I choose I lose and if I don't I lose. Yep, I'm in the proverbial no-win situation and all I can say is that we all will lose -- but I'll lose the most regardless.

The final approach is that I choose one contentious topic and just suspend everyone in that topic.

It is arbitrary but that's doable I guess.

What I do know is that we won't have to shut the site down ... it has crashed smile.gif

I have no idea who is guilty and who is not. I'm sitting here alone, hungry, angry and irritated knowing I've got a ton of other stuff I'd rather be doing than sorting out who hurt whose feelings first ...

I'm going to go get something to eat and I'll be back.

I'm confused, what ever became of this???????

Did Pubby ever decide what he was going to give us as our punishment?? I read about closing posts and shooting bulletts, but are we going to get any more info than that?

Curious....... Never before when the server has crashed have I gotten a message to "take a break, etc"...
Was that really a crash? Or were we all just given a time out?

Please 'splain..........I don't wanna get into no more trouble wif Pubby!!

Pubby, you are right. You are in the middle and nothing you do will appease everyone. Unfortunately, all of this could not have come down at a worse time. Many of you all do not know it but yesterday we had quite a bit of media looking at this site (mostly for Lily topics) because they were considering doing her story. The part that appealed to them most was how through PCOM we were all coming together for a very brave dog. I am sure that when they looked they must have been wondering where that compassionate group of people were. I hope this has not affected their decision to do the story but the point is you never know who is looking or why. I wonder how many potential advertisers have been turned off by things like this as well. I can hear you already, who cares....we don't need them....Your wrong....I care, Adman cares, and most of all Pubby cares...We tend to forget that this is his business that we are all playing in, and yes, I am guilty too. Sometimes there are real consequences to our actions and the brunt of which is bore onto Pubby. Pubby, How about a new arena to play in.....The Steamroom....password protected for some of these more colorfull topics?

Pubby,
You're absolutely correct about that. Go get something to eat, relax and don't worry, really. P.com is a force to be reckoned with and you've given it to us basically. Please try not to let what has happened or what's been said affect you directly when you have a life also. Hang in there.

I am not a popo but as I understand it they are volunteers with lives, jobs, etc outside of this site....Maybe why more of them are on later in the day and on weekends??? Just a guess on my part and I could be wrong

Very well said.

ummmm I am totally lost on this.
I didn't know that we were pointed out in the other thread until just shortly ago when I started getting PM's with apologies. I don't know why we were mentioned and pointed out. However, to those who contacted me, thank you.

We are a business who advertises here. We have met many nice pcommers. We don't belong to a clique or flock as it was mentioned to me.

Then I read this post, which makes me even more confused than ever.
I suppose I should read every post made on pcom so I know what is going on here.

When I finally got to reading the other thread and came to the end when I was going to reply, I found it closed.

I should pay more attention I suppose.

I/we have no problem with people voicing opinion freely.
