Does anyone know when the 2006-2007 middle school basketball schedule will be posted? To my understanding, the first version is about to be altered. Supposedly, the season is going to start in early December and the games will now be played on Tuesdays & Fridays versus the Tuesdays & Thursdays on the original schedule.

Does anyone have any information they could give on this?

Thank you in advance! biggrin.gif

I have been wondering when 6th grade Basketball try-outs are to take place at Moses.
I have heard that E. Paulding and Jones have already had theirs.
Does anyone have any info?

I would hate for any of the kids to miss out on playing Rec if they don't make the team.

There is a 6th grade team represented by each middle school. They just do not officially play for the school. It is more like a rec league. This started last year.

Correct. My son played for HJMS 6th grade last year but SPMS sponsored us so we used their gym to play. We came in as Runner-ups for our division and we had a blast!I'm soooooo looking forward to this year!

East Paulding MS had their first tryout last Friday. Apparently there were close to 80 that tried out. The coaches made the initial cuts down to 17 boys with the last try-outs being next Monday for those students who somehow missed the first tryout. I heard 18 girls tried out for 12 slots.

Each middle school has a 6th grade boys and girls team, but they are not officially run by the school. The coaches are parents or community members - not teachers. They practice at each of their individual school's gyms, then the games are on Saturdays at SPMS. Technically not "affiliated" with the middle schools at all.

Hope everyone's middle school tryouts go well. It can be a rough time in a kids life - for some, it will be the first time they have to "make" a team (instead of just paying a fee and having guaranteed playing time) - and getting cut can be pretty hard on these 11-year olds. sad.gif

Best of luck to everyone & their kids.

Thank you so much! wub.gif
EPMS was our biggest competition, they really had a strong coach last year!
This is a hard time for them...being nervous & working so hard! We had tryouts for 6th last year and it was our first time experiencing this and he was one of the chosen few that made the team out of over 150+ kids!
In closing.....DO IT, DO IT, DO IT...........GO TIGERS!!!! ninja.gif tongue.gif biggrin.gif

Really because that is totally against the rules that David Colvard sent out and those coaches could get themselves in deep trouble. There shouldn't have been any tryouts until October 30.

Sorry I wasn't more clear - the 6th grade ONLY had tryouts - not any of the other EPMS teams. The 6th grade league is not affiliated with the middle school programs and are under different rules. My post was only regarding the 6th grade team(s).

EPMS 7th & 8th grade coaches would definitely follow the tryout rules Mr. Colvard has set up. Hopefully you haven't been spreading the incorrect information that the East Paulding coaches broke the rules - because they did not. EPMS 7th & 8th grade tryouts have not been held yet.

Why in the world would you accuse me of spreading misinformation? From reading your first post again, it seems you did. Maybe you should go back and edit your post to make it a little more clear that you were speaking of the 6th grade rec program and not the middle school program to which this whole thread was started about.

I did NOT accuse you of spreading misinformation. Please, please do not be so easily offended. I was just hoping that no one had seen the posts and ran with the assumption that East Paulding was breaking the middle school tryout rules.
The previous several posts I responded to were in regards TO the 6th grade league. I did not bring up the 6th grade league in the middle of this post - just tried to clarify something. I thought I was clear enough in my post - YoMomma knew what I was talking about at least. Sorry if you jumped to the wrong conclusion.
