Compete & win a Higher Grounds Recording Contract! "Music of Praise" Contest starting soon!

Many sing and play beautifully and maybe there are one or more who should be recording their unique style of praise on CD.
And that's where we're headed. Paulding.com with the music expert Higher Grounds have teamed to find the best talent in Paulding and you, the paulding.com members will be key in determining the winner.
The way this will work is that various church musical groups will appear at Higher Grounds on Thursday night's "Open mike night."
We're going to be video taping segments of those 'mini events' for the Paulding.com audience .
What we'll do is record say three or four numbers from each group and choose the best example and publish it on the web. As members, you'll vote for the 'winner.'
Weekly winners will be invited back later in the season in a sort of tournament.
That's the plan for now at least. We're still working out some of the details like how many total musical groups (or individuals) can enter the contest or even whether it is open or not.
For instance, if we have four groups a night for ten weeks, that would be 40 groups total. That would give us ten winners and maybe two wildcards.
Then the dozen groups will come back and instead of showing just one musical number, we'll do two from each group.
We may also segment the groups by style -- traditional, contemporary, etc. or complete groups or soloists.
Those are the kinds of details we're working out now and we'd certainly appreciate your comments and suggestions as we work finalizing this.
Some other issues include whether we limit it to just Paulding churches (my preference at least for this first effort) or invite folks in the greater NW metro area.
Regardless, I think it is an exciting concept that promises to be a lot of fun.
Let us know your comments by just posting here.

Good idea though! Hopefully some of the churches will get on board for this. It would be a good outing for a church group too! Or, even if a church/individual doesn't want to do the recording, Randy is a great musician and can put together some of the best music around. Wonder if any Sunday School classes have considered having a party there?

I'll be at Higher Grounds tomorrow from 10:30 - 2 p.m. and we will noodle a bit more on the project.
