Mike Dugan defeats Bill Hembree in District 30 Senate GOP Primary

With all counties reporting, Mike Dugan of Carrollton defeated one of the states most senior Republican lawmakers, Rep. Bill Hembree of Winston by a 55-44 margin in a runoff primary held today, December 4, 2012.

Political newcomer Mike Dugan lost in Paulding and Douglas counties but won handsomely in his native Carroll County in the runoff that will put a new face under the Gold Dome. The odd-on favorite, Hembree, just fell short of winning outright in a crowded four man race Nov. 6th that included former Speaker Glenn Richardson and Jim Naughton, another Carrollton resident.

The above video is the PCOM interview with Mr. Dugan conducted by veteran journalist Dennis Suit for Paulding.com.

Dugan will face James Camp, a second-amendment activist who is running as a Libertarian in the January 6 special election.

I was copying from another post and the type was small. I changed it as I figure I must have transcribed it wrong.

I figured it was a typo. The results were surprising.

Hey, NJ! I'm kinda glad the new guy won. I don't live in that district, so it's no skin off my nose, but I'm tired of the same ol' same ol'.

Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;

Maybe he will be good IF he wins in January. Not looking for much attention for Paulding. I hope I am surprised. We should have had our own Senator when they redistricted but that is another story.

Actually, I was pleasantly surprised with Mike Dugan's victory.

Dennis and I discussed the interviews after each one and Mike was among our favorites because of his genuineness although we didn't give him much of a chance against Bill Hembree, who just oozed politician.
