I made a last ditch effort to find Molly today just in case they had her but didn't call me.
There were several dogs who will be put down tomorrow and at least one of them is haunting me!! Many, many kittens!! And those darn kittys and cats just look at you and cry.
Of course I cried as soon as I left; I didn't find Molly and I feel so bad that I can't take in another pet. I already have 4 dogs and 2 cats (wish it was still 3 )
I know what you mean - when I went up there looking for our Cinder a few months ago, I had to go in their restroom and compose myself before I filled out the lost pet form. At risk of sounding over-dramatic, it was one of the hardest things I've ever done.
We lost our long time dog a few months ago and had NO plan to get another one any time soon. Well, 2 weeks ago, we went on our weekly newspaper drop off run to the pound and Hubby said, 'Hey, ya want to look at the pups'? 'Sure', I said, KNOWING full well I didn't want another dog. W-R-O-N-G. One stood out and after we left, I couldn't get my mind off of him. Sooooo, the next day was Saturday and we took the entire family, 5th grader, the grandbabies, daughters and son-in-laws to meet Joey. They all got along great and he was wonderful with the kids.
So guess where Joey spent that Saturday night and all the ones since???? Yep, at my house. He is the best dog and he gives our other dog, Mugsie, fits. He bites her legs and takes her toys. He vies for Hubbys attention and if he doesn't get it, he mopes around the house mooing like a cow. He hasn't chewed up anything of importance yet even though he's only about 5 months old.
He's going to get neutered tomorrow, I hope he still likes us after that!!!!!! We made a good decision that Saturday!
There were several up there that would stay small. There was a Lhasa Apso, 3 doxie mixes, and one terrier. They were all outside in the kennel pens on Saturday. The Lhasa had long hair and was matted up really bad. Was very scared at first, but I went inside the pen and keep easing up until I rubbed his(I believe he was a boy) head. Made me sad! Would make a beautiful dog after having a hair cut. I adopted my Shih Tzu from their and she was matted up with long hair. After getting a hair cut she looked amazing. I love my Sophie! All of these that I mentioned were listed as strays. The 3 doxie mixes and the terrier all came in together as strays.

I feel your hurt with the seeing those left at the shelter. I've been known to come home and cry too.
I just try to give them some loving while I can.
Please pass on the word to others of the wonderful creatures we have at the shelter so hopefully others with adopted.
Still hoping you find your Molly soon.

I did not know they had outside kennels. I actually didn't ask because I was searching for my cat, Molly. But that is good information.

Joey is WONDERFUL! He's so sweet, but he has NO manners. He thinks all the furniture is his, including our bed.........SORRY Joe, not so! Around 9:30 every night he loses his mind and runs through the house 100mph for 10 or 15 minutes. He slides into walls and furniture, mooing all the while. I'm sure he was meant for us because I honestly can't tell what other dogs we saw that day, I zeroed in on him and that was all she wrote.
He is doing well at the vet and we will pick him up tomorrow, less a couple of parts!
Thank you for what ya'll do at the pound, I'm sure while there are so many happy endings, there are more that aren't and that sucks!
