I know there are lots of daycares that offer GA Pre-K, but does anyone know if Allgood Elementary has a pre-k program there? My oldest is currently enrolled at Hiram Elementary, but we are moving next month and districted for Allgood. And I will be looking for a Pre-K program for my youngest.

I don't believe any of the schools offer a pre-k program, especially since it's lottery funded and not funded through the DOE.

They might. My daughter checked into Austell Elementary, in Cobb, about sending her 4 year old there for the lottery funded pre-k which they DO offer. Unfortunately, due to budget cutbacks they only offer it for those termed "at risk".

Sure wouldn't hurt to ask the school. They would know. Of course, any information given this year might not be correct next year.

See, no one in the South ever asks if you have crazy people in your family. They just ask which side they're on. -- Julia Sugarbaker

I don't know of any elementary school, outside of special needs Pre-K, that is offered. Not enough room.

Not sure about why, but Atlanta Public Schools has lottery funded Pre-K in many of its elementary schools, and no private providers within its jurisdiction. Maybe some counties are that way as well?

Thanks everyone! I know in other counties some of the schools have the lottery funded pre-k programs, but wasn't sure about Paulding. Sure would be much easier to send both kids to the same place.

The only Pre-K at Paulding's schools is for students who have special needs.

My wife is a Pre-K Teacher in Cobb county and they are all private companies with Lottery Funded Pre-K classes. The only exception are the special needs students which have classes in Cobb, but they are trying to move those students to the private schools and create Inclusion class rooms where they are in with 12-15 non special needs students and have a regular teacher as well as the special needs. This helps integrate them into normal learning and hopefully help them out of the special needs status.

Paulding hasn't had pre-K in the elementary schools for quite a while. It's odd that a lottery-funded program that is required by the state is not at the schools but at daycare centers or early child education facilities where you have to pay out of pocket. The counties that do have pre-K in the schools don't have enough teachers. I moved from Cobb but when my son was pre-K age you had to go down to the BOE headquarters with all the paperwork and pick your school(s) that you would like. It's then done by drawing and there is no guarantee that you'll get the school closest to you (not all schools have pre-K either) and if you DO get picked your child can't ride the bus to and from school. They also can't stay in ASP, so you have to drive them to school then pick them up right when it's over. Not exactly convenient for working parents!
