Anyone have info on Fall Soccer registration for somewhere that is not a 30 minute drive, 3x a week for those of us in South Paulding? We've only done Upward Soccer at this point. I guess our son is a pretty decent player and everyone keeps telling us to get him to a competitive league.
Did everyone finish "Fall" registration in July? We're new to this and need guideance. Any Douglas County organizations want a decent soccer player? Anyone know?
Guess we should've started researching in March...lol.

Go to www.ssaelite.com - This is the webpage for Southern Soccer Academy. We are the largest soccer club in the State. We are comprised of the former Douglas County Soccer Association, Carrollton Crew, Coweta Cannons, Cobb Futbol, Kennesaw Futbol, and West Metro Soccer. You can register for the fall recreation season at a park convenient for you. (West Metro usually plays @ Braly)

You can also look at Villa Rica but you would need to call like tomorrow I know the last registration was last Saturday but they may still take him. Very well ran program our son has played nine seasons there and it is $65.00 dollars that includes two shirts, shorts and socks! You can't beat it and they play at Fullerville park. They also offer select and acadamy soccer but you have to try out for that in the spring. You can look at their website www.villaricaparks.com.

No offense to Villa Rica but if you are wanting your child to be at a competitive club not far, Cobb is the best closest one. Our son started and finished there and is now playing soccer in college. Good luck!
The greatest thing you'll ever learn is to love and be loved in return.

I will say yes if your child is a child prodigy and their goal is to play pro go to Cobb or the SSA. But for us I could not justify spending that kind of money when I have three kids to put in sports, when lets face it there is very few that goes beyond high school playing sports big time. Villa Rica is a great program and for recreational purposes is good. I do believe where ever you play once you get beyond U10 you must look into soccer camps and private instructors. My son goes to soccer camp at Darlington in Rome with Eurotech Soccer and it is very good.
My one thing for my children I tell them is I don't care what you do as long as you are active in a sport and give it your 100%. I don't want them just sitting, so good luck and keep them active!!

My kid isn't a prodigy. But, he's pretty darn good. And we play at SSA. To be honest - you've probably missed registration for most of the clubs. Even Villa Rica's registration closed Saturday - if you want to play out there - I would email and call them TODAY. They will be putting teams together - well they may have started yesterday. Depending on his age - they may have room for him on a team..
As far as SSA/Cobb/West Metro/West GA - they don't need be a pro or be a prodigy to go there. They do have rec teams up through u19 (I know - my friend is coaching one). Rec ball is no where as expensive as academy or select soccer (nor the practice time). To be honest - I"m not sure which teams are practicing 3x a week - I'm in the middle of it with friends on other select and academy teams and everyone only practices 2x a week - unless they are doing private training of some sort.
I know that academy and select is expensive - but to be honest - I moved into because I was tired of playing daddy ball. Both academy and select have paid, professional, and licensed coaches. My son's current coach played in the world cup in the early 2000's (don't remember which year) and played professional both before and after. Last year he had three coaches and two played in England professionally, and one played in Europe professionally.
It's about $1100 a year to play on a select team (fees and uniforms - not tournaments) - but given the fact that my other son did competitive gymanstics for years - this almost seems like a bargain comparatively.
