Here's the scoop: our house was built in 1976 and has a pre-fab fireplace. We took out the damper when we installed a wood burning stove back in the late 1990s. We cannot find the damper anywhere. We have searched high and low and cannot find it. We obviously threw or gave it away at some point in the last 18 years. Our problem now is we can't find a replacement damper. The company who made the fireplace was sold several years ago and they don't sell parts directly. We have called everyone who is listed as a dealer for them, to no avail. The lady my husband talked to at one of the dealers can't even locate a damper for hers!
Does anyone know of a fireplace company in Douglas, Paulding, Polk, Cobb, Cherokee or heck anywhere in metro Atlanta?
TIA

And you might just take the part to a fab shop and have them make it for you. Metal Fabricators just off Clay Road is a good place.

You might check with the Gas Log Etc. guy on 92. He used to have the blue white and yellow trucks parked all over town. He might be able to point you in the right direction.

The problem we have run into is that the authorized retailer and repair parts retailer for the brand fireplace doesn't even have a clue where to get parts for one this old. They have an employee who can't get parts for her fireplace either. We're thinking that if it wasn't very costly, we would just have a whole new one installed. BUT that might cost more money than we want to, or can, afford to pay. We can't use the fireplace but since we're getting the house ready to sell, seems like a working fireplace might be a selling point.

UPDATE: I found an online source for the part we need. I e-mailed a link to my husband, who at the time was taking a nap. I went to get KFC for dinner and when I got back he was in the living room. I said "check your e-mail. I found the part we need". He looked at me, grinned and said "me, too". Apparently one of the phone calls he had out to someone will pay off. The guy called him back and said he had it in stock. Somewhere in Douglas County, which means we can just go over and pick it up.
