The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

President Barack Obama visted Atlanta on Tuesday to attend fundraisers for his re-election campaign, his second visit this year. After lunching at the Varisty and attending a fundraiser at the Westin Peachtree-Plaza, Obama reportedly will also make a stop at the set of a movie filming this week in Midtown and Inman Park, before departing Tuesday afternoon.

What'll ya have. What'll ya have. What'll ya have. Wonder if he has a toilet in the presidential limo?

I bet that messed up a lot of folks' lunch plans.

I wonder if they confiscated everyone's forks: http://www.examiner....atino-officials

The President is not respected any more than South Carolina people were in Dec. of 1864.

"Many and many a person in Georgia asked me why we did not go to South Carolina; and, when I answered that we were en route for that State, the invariable reply was, "Well, if you will make those people feel the utmost severities of war, we will pardon you for your desolation of Georgia."" William T. Sherman

What did pore South Carolina people do to deserve that kind of attitude about them, from their Georgia neighbors, in Dec. of 1864?

Huh? I'm willing to bet his lunch at the Varsity was a heck of a lot cheaper then what a President usually eats....unless you feel the President shouldn't eat. Maybe only Raman Noodle?

And can you just imagine the disruption at the world's busiest airport when he landed this morning. What a waste -- should have landed at Dobbins...

Do you know how cool it is when the President comes to where you work? Do you know how much cooler it is when that place isn't a corporate office or a private airport but somewhere you make 7 bucks and hour working a grill? Did you all bitch and moan when past presidents did stuff like this? Or is it for Obama

umm..I wasn't exactly referring to the food. The flight, secret service, etc. is what I was referring to. Although, I'm sure he's not as concerned about that stuff as he is about getting re-elected. He needs 4 more years so that he can take multiple vacations, play golf, and ignore the problems that are important to Americans.

You have a point there. I was thinking more of the folks who thought they were going to get a quick bite for lunch that were otherwise delayed because Obama didn't just send someone to pick up his meal.

It sounds like he got his order 'to go' so the impact wasn't as bad as it could have been.

It applies to any president who needlessly inconveniences the general public.

I remember when the President would land at Dobbins, then take Marine One to near wherever he was going.

No rolling roadblocks needed, and minimal inconvenience to the public.

Obama has no prof of being born in this country, he could very well be an illegal alien. Why was he not pulled over and asked for his papers?

Good lord, people. It's not like Bush never did it. I remember him coming into town plenty of times and I worked in midtown and used I-75. So yes, he also "inconvenienced" some regular folks. I remember Clinton doing it as well as Regan.

They all do it.

Edited to add: I don't remember much about Daddy Bush, I really didn't care for him but I'm sure he did it too.

No matter how negative my opionon is of Obama, and belive me its pretty negative, even I cant begrudge him a couple of chili dawgs, a ring and a FO.

yeah, he was just sitting around and thought....you know what's good for lunch? Some really crappy fast food from ATL....fire up AF1.

If he didn't travel and meet with the people around the country you would all bitch about that too.

This President landed at Dobbins today. I just saw Air Force One coming off the end of the runway about 1,000 feet above Powers Ferry Road. If that don't make you proud to be an American then truck you. You shouldn't be in this country.

I recall when I worked at Home Depot's HQ we all ran to the roof to watch it come in and take off when Bush was in town once. It was awesome.

I saw the SR-71 land the last time at Dobbins. But Air Force One got me all patriotic. Gave me an understanding of the meaning of "respect for the office". Doesn't really matter who was riding shotgun, that is OUR airplane.

What difference does that make?

I can't believe my Georgia friends

You might be a Red Neck if you get thrown out of your house, and you say, "What Difference Does That Make?":rofl::rofl:

You might be a Red Neck if Billy gets an "F" on his report card, and you think "F" means "FINE."

Huh? We watched his landing/plane exit today at lunch land at Hartsfield, they interrupted "The Price Is Right" to show it live... maybe Air Force One went to Dobbins to refuel afterwards?

Growing up in Cobb and living for many years across from Dobbins in the 80's, I've seen AF1 many times.
Because of where the enterance to our condo complex was located, when the Pres was coming in or leaving, they would station a guard with a automatic rifle at our entrance and we could not leave.
I was late for work a few times because of this.
Makes a heck of an excuse, an armed guard wouldn't let me leave, he said the Pres told him to do it.

It is not confusing at all for him to go to the Varsity while Michelle is raging war on obesity.

Not confusing, at.all.

Air Force One landed at Hartsfield, not Dobbins.

The plane, SAM 28000 or SAM 29000 may have landed at Dobbins AFTER the president departed from
it at Hartsfield for safe keeping on a secure military installation.

When the president fly's, there are always 2 aircraft in the air, both are identical to each other.
Very few people know which one has the president aboard.

The one you saw land a Dobbin's could have been a decoy plane or it could have been sent there for security
after he departed at Hartsfield.

The plane is only Air Force One while he is aboard. Any other time, it's SAM 28000 or SAM 29000, depending
on which physical plane it is.

The guy is a notorious lover of hamburgers. Why wouldn't he stop at the Varsity?

I am not a fan of Obama, but the President stopping by your place of employment would be a BIG deal, no matter who it was.

How are you going to change your outlook when people don't want change, and you are Representing them? :drinks:

Yep, I'm sure it was the backup. Regardless, it is a beautiful airplane.

One of Hartsfield's runways is 2,390 feet longer than the 10,000 feet at Dobbins. With the 747s I wonder if this extra safety factor had anything to do with AF1 landing at Hartsfield instead of Dobbins.
Maybe poker's just not your game Ike. I know! Let's have a spelling contest!
