Not sure this right forum. Could not seem to find any others that apply.
On Saturday the Senior Alumni of Osborne High School had a gathering for all who graduated prior to 1967.
The class of 1954 was compare with the class of 1961.
In 1954, there were 47 graduates. The was 2 sports teams, 2 elective subjects and 2 clubs. 25% of the class graduated with honors.
In 1961, there was 121 graduates. There 14 elective subjects, 14 clubs and 10 sports teams. 11% of the class graduated with honor.
Do we just need to cut the fluff and get back to teaching acedemics?

There are many more required subjects then earlier. That makes a difference. Also, the requirements for diplomas changed over the years.
I do think that more effort on the basics including more repetition on basic courses would help with more success in advanced courses.
