I haven't vented in a while as to how much I despise PCHS. School is out for 6 more weeks, so I'll just say this, ya'll can have a small vacation from my griping. I'll be back to venting about PCHS when school starts back THE FIRST WEEK OF AUGUST!

that's another thing that irkes me. Who's bright idea was it to rob our kids of a summer break and send them back the 1st week of August? That's pathetic leadership. My poor babies

That would be your Central Office that comes up with it and then the BOE votes on it.

Great question! And in case Angel Eyes has not noticed, it is NOT just a Paulding County thing. But, maybe she hasn't noticed when ALL schools DID get a full 3 months summer vacation the only breaks were 3 days at Thanksgiving, "maybe" 2 weeks at Christmas and Spring Break.

NO FALL BREAK, NO FULL WEEK AT THANKSGIVING, NO WINTER BREAK, NO ALMOST 3 WEEKS AT CHRISTMAS.

The teachers and students I have heard talk about the school calendar had much rather have the week breaks throughout the year than all at once in the summer. Not to mention it is GREAT for those who want to vacation and not pay peak prices and fight the crowds all the time!!!!

You do have choices.

You can move your child to another distirict.

OR you can do as many of us do and homeschool.
We are not in a communist nation so if you do not like the school you are districted to....Change Districts.

I thought when they got a new administration all the problems would be solved.
Who is John Gault? - He's the successful business owner who didn't want to play by the new 'Law of the Land' so he closed up shop, packed up his stuff and left. He was joined by many other successful business owners who did the same. They stayed away until the government begged them to return and repealed the law.

More people like the schedule with more breaks during the school year and a shorter summer. Some like the longer summers with fewer breaks like it used to be. Research has shown that students retain information when there are shorter and more frequent breaks so there are school systems that have gone to year round school. Paulding, like a lot of others in GA, have a modified year round schedule. You get the breaks, but you also get a longer summer break. This is one of those situations where you're not going to please everyone, but it has nothing to do with making poor decisions.

Why don't you do school choice and go to another school. I bet you would find
something wrong with it. No school is perfect, you have to make the best of it,
and it is possible.

PCHS has nothing to do with the school calendar, they just follow the rules the county sets for all the schools. Personally, I L-O-V-E the calendar and I love all the breaks during the school year. 9 weeks in the hottest part of the year in the south is plenty, especially if you don't have access to a pool or unlimited funds to keep kids occupied or in camps, etc. We do free movies, crafts, cheap lunches out, etc., but after 2 or 3 weeks of that, it gets old and kids get bored.

Maybe you could find another dead horse to beat, I think this one has just about had it.

Agreed. We're going to Washington DC this Sept., and on a cruise in February. And since most counties in GA or anywhere else don't have the same breaks, it's less crowded just about everywhere you go.

Please tell me that you will have quit by the time DS gets to PCHS.
As for the calender, it's the same dang thing that it has been for, what? Two, three years?
Scottie are you in school still? Do you have kids there? Did you go to PCHS? Were you one of the ones that gave the school a bad name?
I think all the people are gone that AE has an issue with. Well one of them is now at the district office. I'm sure she is having convulsions over that. Give the new guys a chance to rebuild. They are still having to deal with some of the left over trouble.
I for one (as a future PCHS parent) am looking forward to DS going to a first rate school.
Too bad the few make the rest look bad.

Happy Birthday to all 1973 babies. Tell your mom how much you love her!!!

Its the parents threatening to sue the BOE when their kids get in trouble is the reason the schools suck. If the state would back the teachers, admins and staffs of schools that are trying to better them then we wouldn't be in the mess we are. Parents need to parent their kids and back the admins and teachers up when their kids are doing wrong.

I can say I was disappointed with a counselor at PCHS that caused me to have to pay $129 for an online class my child had to take because SHE (the counselor) didn't do HER job and get the on-site classes scheduled. BUT....years later I don't let it use up my energy - not worth it. Life goes on and if I did use my energy to constantly vent about it would it change anything at PCHS? No.

Mr. Fincher has been a nice change since the Segars/McF***ister regime really screwed that school up. Now that those two losers are gone, things will improve.

His name is actually McAllister, I'm just posting what the students call him... :p

So since a child calls an adult an inappropriate name then it is okay for you to refer to him with the same name?????

replace whom ever you want. the buddy system is still in place.
and nothing will ever change that but death.
PCHS will always look out for themselves and screw everyone else. Even the special needs kids. they are the targets cause in "Paulding County" special needs kids, are not worth the time. what i mean is that special needs (anyone) are not reliable tax payers...so why should anyone care about them?

and nothing will ever change that but death.
PCHS will always look out for themselves and screw everyone else. Even the special needs kids. they are the targets cause in "Paulding County" special needs kids, are not worth the time. what i mean is that special needs (anyone) are not reliable tax payers...so why should anyone care about them?

really, it is worth it!
if you just walk away...your a puss!
have some balls and defend those who can not defend themselves.

I guess if i was walking by and saw someone beating the hell out of you...it is ok for me to just simple walk past and not do anything?
what the hell is wrong with you people?

are you all so busy with your own freak'n lives that you don't care about those that cant defend themselves?
if so..... screw all ya!

it is a waste of my time even trying to educate you on how the system don't care about less then average students.

in the famous words of cartman "screw you guys... im going home" you guys are not even worth talking to.

completely worthless!

And, you know I don't have a kid in the special needs program, how??? BTW I could say the same stuff about Cobb County schools too. But, the difference is,
A) If I knew then what I know now, maybe things would have been a little bit different.
B) My kid is fine, he has succeeded in spite of the lack of help that he received from a COBB CO. high school. And, no it wasn't on the South side. This school is in an "affluent" area.
C) We seen a very good school in COBB CO. go down hill fast when our daughter was there. I can truthfully state that it sucked in 2004. I don't know how it is now, because we don't have a child in the school, and do not live in the area. But, when discussing this school, I don't say that it is crappy, because I don't know that it is crappy anymore. I do know people who have kids in that school, and based on what they say it is crappy.
D) Based on your post you are the one who is causing yourself and your child pain. It may be time to let it go.
Those of us who have children, either in or on their way to PCHS are the ones who have to restore the pride that is THE Paulding County High School. I know approximately 300 + student athletes who are very proud to be part of THE Patriot Nation.
I spent 3 days this week at a Cobb co, school that hosted a football camp. Every person I spoke with stated that our kids are all good kids, and we should be proud of them. So, THE Paulding County High School must be doing something right.

I don't know what AE personal issue is with her co-workers, but if it were me I would not stay at a job I was that unhappy going to.

BTW: Who/what is a cartman?

I think that Mr. Segars was brought in to get control of the discipline and try to re-store order. He apparently did that to some degree.
When it was time for a change, they brought in Mr. Fincher, a good, knowledgeble and reasonable person.

As far as the nicknames, students pick up a lot from their parents. If a student or parent shows disrespect to a good educator, they are showing their lack of manners, education and common sense. They probably get very little respect from their co-workers and friends and that is the way they handle it.
