Those of you who know me, know I have been looking for 2 years for a dog for my grandson. We finally found the right one-so glad we waited!! He is a 9 week old Golden Retriever, and sooooooo cute, but very mischevious. any sugestions would be appreciated for training. I know that very smart dogs are always troublesome when they are pups-just to curious about everything. I've had to put up all my deck plants (over a 100 of them) he likes to dig in the dirt and tear out the plants-lost a hot pepper plant already. thought he learned his lesson, but now he just snaps them in half and leaves the peppers alone. OYYY!
He learned the word "NO" right away, but will get in trouble the minute you turn your back!!

Honestly, PETiquette Academy would be where I would go. They are amazing!

Congrats on your new puppy! He is quiet the cutie.

CONGRATULATIONS on your new family member.

Does PETiquette Academy work with puppies/dogs that bark at any and every noise they hear? I have a year old puppy that will bark if a leaf falls on the porch. She doesn't respond very well to telling her to HUSH or spankings either. HELP!

We can help you with that. That can quickly become territorial aggression, so it is important to get her some help. Big open windows in the living area can cause this. You can manage the problem for starters by glazing the bottom part of the windows. Taping on wax paper can serve the same puprose for less money. There's some tricks for the sound reactivity too. Give us a call, we'd love to help! (678)398-9656

To the OP, Goldens are, when well bred, truey the most awesome, loving, smart, good looking, incredibly loyal, playful, funny, PIYA dogs ever. The PIYA changes around the age of 3 1/2 then you can look forward to one of the best dogs you will ever have. At any age, they have got to be part of your family or they will not be happy.

Only the very best of luck. I had one that was the canine love of my life. Everyone loved Beau, he was something else and I miss him to this day. Such a sweet, good boy. He lived till he was 14 1/2. The entire family as well as friends cried (literally) when he passed.

Keep us posted!

We've had him for 2 weeks now-what a character!! Wasn't at all socialized with people and lived in a cage. Didn't answer to calls, whistles, anything!! ED thought he was deaf, but he isn't-just didn't know what was with the noise coming out of us.He is starting to respond to his name, and has learned- "no", "come", "sit", and today "shake"--what a smart dog. He is picking up a trick every other day. I will start with "lay down" tomorrow, and see how he does. I'll keep everyone posted

No-found him on Craig's list. They said he was the last of 11 pups, no papers though! I think they were "home breeders" and maybe not even supposed to sell dogs, but I couldn't find one at a reasonable price. Even the "Adopt-A-Golden" rescue places started at $600, plus a $150. non-refundable registration fee!!!! They don't even adopt out only full blooded Goldens. I paid $300-Ed thinks I'm crazy to pay that for a dog without papers, but Brandon really wanted a golden!! I felt he deserved to get the kink of dog he wanted-he isn't the kind of kid to ask for much.
