The comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person; having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but to pour them all out, just as they are, chaff and grain together, knowing that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then, with a breath of kindness, blow the rest away.
---George Eliot

Not usually the fans failing, might just need a good blowing out. The cost to replace both fans in a laptop may be quite high, nowadays it is almost cheaper to buy a new one. PM me if you want anymore info or assistance!!

Or you could just buy an external fan.
I bought mine for about $10. I just plug it into the laptop and let it do it's thing.

I would still get a can of compressed air, take the bottom cover off and blow the dust out. It's amazing how much dust can collect in one of these things over time.

Even with an external fan, the buildup of dust can keep the computer from cooling efficiently.
Who is John Gault? - He's the successful business owner who didn't want to play by the new 'Law of the Land' so he closed up shop, packed up his stuff and left. He was joined by many other successful business owners who did the same. They stayed away until the government begged them to return and repealed the law.

^^^ This

My son lost his laptop to overheating due to dust buildup. My other son and I both had sudden shutdowns that we believe were due to overheating due to dust buildup and heavy CPU loading. We cleaned them immediately and haven't had a problem. I assume yours is not under warranty since you are not taking it in so it shouldn't be a problem taking the bottom off. For mine, since it's a work machine, I blew air in the exhaust, a big cloud of dust came out all over the machine. :o

All of them seemed to have problems after about 2 years of pretty heavy use.
