should be broke, no money, no nice home, no private plane for travel, etc. to spread God's word.
The Great Commission - Matthew 28:16-20
The reason it's sad is because those that feel that way do not seem to understand that God's word says he blesses those that serve Him.
How can we believe in abundance (in the bible) if our spiritual leaders are not living in abundance ?
I have listened to Pastor Dollar for years and he does not beg for money, he does not try to trick or scam people, guilt trip them, scare them with end time threats to gain wealth.
He preaches the bible.
Prayers for Pastor Dollar and his family.
This too shall pass.

The reason I mentioned a plane is that I expected that would be
brought up if I didn't do it myself..
I was not targeting you specifically with my post, it is something that has been going on with Pastors for many years.

Abundance doesn't mean just financially.
Jesus spoke specifically about the difficulty of a rich man making it into heaven...

The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can't pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies… America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.Senator Barack Obama

I have a problem with someone that will take money from a struggling family to finance their lifestyle. And to do it under the pretense that it makes God happy is just not right. (In my opinion of course).
I personally know a pastor that tried to talk a lady that was dyeing of cancer out of her property. Karma train T-Boned him so maybe God doesn't agree with it either.

I hope everyone would have a problem with that, it is wrong on so many levels.
Sadly there are all kinds of people on this earth and for whatever reason the ones that fall for the scams are the ones that I believe need God the most because if they weren't interested in knowing something about God they wouldn't have been listening to the person in the first place.
I think some people try to play God like he was the lottery. Hoping they will "win", sending money to buy an instant miracle, then trying again the next week when nothing happens.
I do appreciate the tv pastors, for example, that say your tithes belong to your local church. (Not to them)
I have only heard two say that, Creflo Dollar and Joseph Prince.

I apologize to you also, it is obvious to me after dinner and reading it again that I did not think it through before making my original post, my intention was not to promote prosperity as a reward for the righteous but it may have come across that way.
The sacrifices of those that go into the third world countries
and teach God's word just amaze me, it takes a special kind of person to give that much of themselves.

You wanna have a party kiddo, fine you can dance to the beat of this belt on your hiney!
I am not all about corporal punishment, but teens these days get up in their parents face and keep on walking when a parent says no.
Guess who she is gonna come cryin to to buy some pampers.

I agree with that, but I can tell you this, you can't spank the behind of an adult sized teen that is fighting you.
I never raised my hand to my parents, when you raise your hand to your parent when they are disciplining you (not beating, that is different) it becomes an adult verses adult situation and it is every man for himself, welcome to the grown up world kiddo!

Having said that, I'm very skeptical of just about any 15 year old calling the police and reporting that Daddy abused her, just because he was trying to keep her from going to a party at 1:00am. What 15 year old goes to a party at 1:00am? Do I think a 15 year old would lie just to get her Dad in trouble? I sure do. And I'm not inclined to believe the 19 year old who verified her story because I'm sure she is held to similar rules and what better revenge than to have Dad arrested? Something is fishy about this story and I don't buy it. But that's just me.

My children weren't angels.
I homeschooled for 12 years. My kids were with me 7/24- 365 days per year. Pretty much from birth, on.
I believe in corporal punishment. I spanked mine, and I spanked my niece and nephew (if needed) who were also with my 365 days per year for about a decade.
Teen years included.
I never had to restrain one by the throat, or punch a child to get them to obey.
I think it is reprehensible behavior, period.
If you have to do it at 15, then it is probably something you needed to take care of MUCH earlier.
I didn't notice much difference between toddlers and teens...but then maybe I am just lucky like that.
Our children are 29. 27. 26. 25 and 23.

OK I've read more of the story now. 15yr girl wants to go to a party at 1am so bad that she gets in a physical fight with her dad over it? There's one scratch on her neck and HE goes to jail? Assault and battery my a$$. I FULLY support this parent and the law needs to keep their nose out of it. I think some are looking more at who he is, rather than what the facts are.

"There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die."
Religion in Government is like Gang Rape. 5 out of the 6 participants thinks it's great, done by popular concensus and morally justified because the Bible and "god" said they could. Publicly the 5 condem it but have no problems privately supporting it or participating in it...
