I have nothing negative to say about Kim Cobb and hope she can live up to her promises.
Finally I, along with Crist Roofing, will continue to support local schools through the multiple sponsorships and contributions we are currently a part of in hopes of improving education and opportunities for our children.

Keep the focus on the kids and keep your head held high.
You are truly a great man and the County would be fortunate to have you fighting on behalf of the kids.
My support will remain with you in whatever you pursue.

In Mr. Crist's defense, the issues brought forth are always interesting in regard to residency. It is typically a loser of an issue for the candidate tarred by the charge - ask the Senator for Indiana Dick Lugar if residency doesn't have an impact. ... or even Rick Santorum who also counted residency questions as among those that cost him his senate seat in 2006.
Regarding the phone call, I do feel that Mr. Crist was interested in serving and spoke in a manner that showed disappointment that the race was headed towards being about him or his opponent instead of about the kids.

It's a damn shame that there isn't more competition for school board seats......then folks might actually have to start fulfilling campaign promises.

Whoa there!
I know for certain that Kim Cobb has fufilled and surpassed every campaign promise she made when running against Paulette Rakestraw Braddock 4 years ago.
Kim has shown herself to be prepared, knowledgeable, and ready to talk on EVERY topic which come up at the BOE meetings. I have never seen or known of any other BOE members who have been as in touch with the voters and students of Paulding.

In the last 4 years the school district has been going down hill. Maybe a change would be good for the students.

From what I've been able to determine here this person did not purchase the Paulding property as an owner occupant but attempted to use that address as his primary residence to qualify for a candidacy. If those allegations are true, that's deceitful no matter the motivation to seek office.
I'm not interested in the motivations of the voter that brought this up either. That voter is practicing good citizenship in my mind whether he was correct or not. It's our obligation to question our elected officials and those seeking elected office.
Of course this is all alleged and it's none of my business.

AMEN!!!! Kim Cobb by far and away is a tremendously dedicated Board Member. I cannot for the life of me imagine anyone thinking they could do a better job than her. She has the courage to dig and research each and every issue. In the past, Board Members shunned p.com and looked down their noses at it as a way to interact with citizens. They did not care to interact with parents in this way. Kim interacts here and any and everywhere parents and citizens are.
She has a thorough understanding of exactly where our school system is currently lacking. Overit, you are right, our system has gone downhill in the last couple of years. Kim knows how and why and is dedicated to fixing things. She is only one board member though. Until the other (or new board members) are willing to take a cold hard look at the why's of what has happened, nothing can be repaired.

Everyone gets the benefit of the doubt, or should. That's the way I want to be treated and think others should be treated the same way.
I'm guessing it was an oversight of not exactly understanding the rules. I doubt seriously if he would have done it on purpose, knowing the ramifications if he tried to pull a fast one.
No, I bet it was just a misunderstanding being a political novice.
No harm. No foul. Time to move on, IMHO.

So you are saying that he was running for an office that he was not smart enough to read and understand the rules for....OK
Oh and not to forget Marks post about how much trouble you can be in . Seems a lot of not understanding to me. Me I like to know what the truth is so there will not be any more miss information.

I totally agree with you regarding Kim Cobb, however, I disagree with the fact that our school system has gone downhill in the last four years. ALL school systems have taken a tremendous hit in the past four years due to the economy and tremendous budget cuts. I believe they have done a great job of doing more with less. Yes, they have had to make some hard decisions but our students are still succeeding academically. If you are going to say a school system is going downhill you need to cite facts and evidence.....I sense some bitterness over something personal......

No, not what I'm saying at all.
I'm saying that I am willing to treat others the way I would want to be treated and give him the benefit of the doubt that it was a misunderstanding of the rules regarding residency and not just ownership or property.
I just don't think it is fair to judge someone without knowing all the information, and we certainly don't. Until then, I think it is only fair to assume the best and not the worst.
Same thing we do with anyone accused of anything. He's pulled out of the race so let's assume the best and just move on.

I'm thankful for people like "chainsaw" because it would be horrible for someone to lose an election based on another persons LIES. How the heck can you not know where you live?!

That was actually one of my first thoughts....why would a roof guy want to run for some BOE thing? What could he have to offer if his thing is roofing?
Shouldn't you have a background in education or school related things to run for that?
Then again what do I know. I'm just sayin' a roof guy wouldn't get my vote for BOE any faster than a cab driver would get my vote for state senate.

Yeah they told her she had hail damage (I think its hailed out here 3 times over the course of the 10 years the house has been around for...and the hail has been maybe about the size of a popcorn kernel) and that her roof resembled the roof of a 20 or 30 year old home (it's just 10).

Not to mention he doesn't have children in this school system.
Wasn't there something about his company on here a year or so ago? Something about someone's roof?
