I am the parent of a high school student and a middle school student. I can't be the only one that thinks it is crazy to close the parent portal before all the grades are added? Our school system could save a ton of money if they just let us print the report card off the website. Also, if the student owes money then shut their access off not mine. As of May 21st I could no longer see my daughters grades. Couldn't see her EOCT's, finals or anything else posted. I had no way of figuring out her grades and to be honest I think that is awful. Cobb leaves their parent access up and never closes it. Of course when I asked I was told well other school districts like Cobb close theirs. When I told them they were wrong they just got mumbled. I am so sick of hearing because " other schools do it". So if we follow that statement why doesn't Paulding do the same? High school teachers have a ton of grades to put in and some of those can make the difference between passing and failing. Does anyone else agree?

I agree. It aggravates me also that I don't get to see my child's final grades on projects, tests, etc.

It used to drive me nuts as well, especially when they would shut it down a few weeks earlier than they do now. But last year or the year before Caped Crusader called them up and let them know how we all felt and since then they have waited until the last week to shut off the grades and just about the last day to shut off the attendance portion. I guess I am just used to it and grateful that they keep up as long as they do now. I wil say I took pictures of all my daughters grades right before the grade portion shut off so we could figure out what was needed on her finals to get or maintain an A in each class. I know I am a geek and believe you me I checked that thing about a dozen times a day in the weeks leading up to the grade portion being closed down-lol. Hopefully there will be no surprised once the grades actually come in. I do wonder why they need to shut it down at all or more importantly why some teachers have such a hard time keeping up with posting the grades but oh well.

I have also taken pictures. Last semester my daughters Math teacher forgot to post her final grade and she ended up with a F in the class. If I hadn't been able to see parent portal I would have never figured out that he screwed up. I was able to go to the school and have them manually fix her transcripts to the correct grade which was a C. Big difference. The teach kept telling me the grades were in but they weren't released on his end. It makes no sense to close it. Parents need to understand that until it says " final grade" the grades aren't final. Our school district makes stupid decisions so it is easier on them.

I don't like it when they close the parent portal either. I want to know what is going on till the end with my kids grades.

Oh, and god forbid if you correct anyone up at Central Office. If that is whom you called about this. They do things on THEIR time and no sooner. Well, unless it's going to make them look bad, then they are johnny on it.

I also hate how at the beginning of the school year it takes them 3 weeks to open Parent Portal.

We do not live in a perfect world :pardon:

I will say KUDDOS for keeping it open longer than
it has been in the past.

It is a SHAME that those who owe $$$$$ (for Books, lunches, etc...)
ruin it for the rest of us.

There is NO WAY to make EVERYONE :) :) :) :) :)

But I am thankful that it remained open longer
this year and I have good communication with my
Son's teachers! :good:

Who by the way will be a JUNIOR next year at South!!!! :good: :good: :good:
To Err is Human, To Forgive is DIVINE
