I feel your pain. I had one in '86...the worst pain I ever endured. The trick is to never have another. Good luck.
The comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person; having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but to pour them all out, just as they are, chaff and grain together, knowing that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then, with a breath of kindness, blow the rest away.

I'd sooner give birth to five more babies than have another kidney stone.

Now, the nano-second I feel "that" twinge and know one is in the works, I do the Coca-Cola & Asparagus routine... no more stone :D

What do you mean by this routine? Does it stop the pain?

It doesn't stop the pain but it helps dissolve the stone and move it out.

Seriously, you have to catch it at the first twinge of That pain that you KNOW means a stone: Drink an entire 2-liter Coca-Cola as quickly as humanly possible... regular, not diet. Coke only, not Pepsi or any other cola.

After consuming the Coca-Cola, eat a pound of fresh, steamed asparagus.

The acid level in the coke dissolves the stone. The natural direutic properties of the asparagus will have you peeing like a racehorse.

Wow. I learned something new! I will be sure to get hubby to try this next time he has a stone......I feel so sorry for him when it happens.

This works.
Drink pure, fresh squeezed lemonade. (Like from Chick Fil A or home make your own)If you can stand to add the pulp that is even better.
The acid in the lemon juice dissolves calcium stones.
This is a proven trick here at our house, my husband gets them and had to have surgery to remove one before we found out about lemonade.
He doesn't care for lemonade as much as I do so he only drinks it when his back, around his kidney area, hurts and he feels like a stone is in there.

Hope this helps.

PTR, I know there are dietary methods that can help eliminate kidney stones. Have you tried anything other than drugs? I will be happy to look up other options for you. I have found with many "medical issues" such as this, what I eat /drink..........or stop eating/drinking can have a huge impact. Also some supplements can have a drastic result.

Knowing you, I am sure you have looked into just about anything to avoid this.....but I know without a doubt, most doctors know little about treatments other than what they learned in medical school....which is drugs, more drugs and then surgery if drugs don't work.

The Coca-cola and lemonade treatments make sense. I will see what I can find. :)

This is what the doc told me. I drink it twice a week. The only time I've had an issue was when I stopped. :)!

Yes, once you've had a stone, it's good to drink water with lemon in it every day--multiple times a day. It keeps the urine acidified. This is assuming the stones are calcium based.

My answer to Kidney Stones. Bud Light on a consistent basis, keeps the internals working without letting those darn stones grow to be a pain.

FYI, my answer for the other socially sensitive area, colon = hot peppers, tabasco, horseradish, etc. All things hot.Keep things moving in the body so unwanted things don't have time to settle.

Of course there are side effects to all this too. Just ask my wife.

For those with Stones, good luck.

Be careful...I went through this for about 2 months last year, this time. It would come and go ( so, I thought the stone passed). Boy, was I wrong...had alotof damage and they had to do emergency, next day surgery, on me. Stent was inserted after surgery, and remained in for a week! Good luck, don't let it go on too long!

I have had this joyful experience TWICE. I make da*n sure I drink TONS of water every day, and urine is clear. Completely clear.
Since the last one, and the monitoring of water as opposed to any other fluid I intake, I have had not other issues... *crossing fingers*.

Ps...If the universe was 'fair' I think men should only have to experience this since we have to give birth,
And, there it is :p .
