My husband has his heart set on one of these dogs, I have read about them on the internet but was hoping someone on here has had some interaction with this kind of dog.

It sounds like he will mostly fit into our lives - except for the smell....... Posted Image

On the ATTS test (temperament test) they scored a 85%, Out of the 903 that were test only 135 failed. http://atts.org/

Never seen one in person, but I imagine the food bill and groomer bill would be HUGE

They look a lot like our labradoodle - who came from the shelter. ;)

The following was posted by a breeder:

I dunno - I just don't think that heavy-coated a dog would be happy in our climate.

please check out rescues or shelter who might have one BEFORE a breeder & research, research, research.

I have not had much (ok, once) contact with this type of dog, so I can't offer much info.

good luck!

My best friend in N.H. had a grooming kennel, and had a client give one up to her. Joia was a very wonderful dog- she wasnt huge, avearge for that breed. I would definitely talk to a breeder about the breed, they can see if it would work for you and the dog ....

I had read an article about why to NOT get one.... every reason not to would not be a problem for us --- except the "gas" problem. I was wondering if anyone remembers an overpowering odor around feeding time, or if it is worse than that.

I can handle a lot of things, but constant gas odors are not one of themPosted Image.

A friend had one in a condo in Washington DC - too much hair for me. Seemed to be a nice dog. That particular dog has some strange habits - but so did his owner. So, I always attributed to their relationship. She never complained about gas.
