Well..... We now have SIX ducks!
Allow me to introduce Ming Ming. (in the middle cleaning himself)
We are pretty sure Ming Ming is a drake. He quacks like a male!

He's got some growing and catching up to do to catch up with the others and he's the same age, but we will fatten him up nicely!!
Papi says I'm the crazy duck lady!
A lady on FB who was friends with my stepson asked if we could take him. Got him for Easter and now he's too big to keep. I'm gonna start protesting Easter ducks! :lol:

They are all back in the outside pen this morning and getting along just great! Ming Ming is the only one I don't have to chase to catch! He comes right to me! Papi says he's gonna end up being my "baby duck". LOL Everyone is really getting along great!! I'm going to work on getting Ming Ming all fattened up so next weekend we can cut a hole in the fence and allow them to start exploring the lake on their own!

OH NO!!!
Pekins aren't typically broody.
It's been breed out of them because they are raised for meat production.
Their eggs are taken away to be incubated and raised, so it's very rare for a Pekin Hen to sit on a nest at all.
I imagine the raccoon and fox around here will have their fill of duck eggs.

A co-worker took a Easter chick that was dyed Green home to live with his chickens after it got to big for the person who bought it. Funny thing is that the green chicken and his only duck hang out together and away from the rest of the fowl. Guss they are they only ones who are different their :rofl: :rofl:

So what is the cage for- WOuld they go loose if you didnt have that? Just curious.

Because they are not quite ready enough to roam the lake full time on their own. We plan on cutting some fence away this weekend so they will get the idea to roam free.

That fact and that more than a few of them are females and our drake is....shall we say quite amorous and they are definitely not ready for that! :lol:

I'm pretty sure Montego, Tweety and Taz are hens.
I KNOW Largo is a hen, and Ming Ming is definitely a Drake.
And of course, Jmatt is a drake.
So four girls and two boys.
I'll have to take video and pics when we cut the fence this weekend and let them have the opportunity to roam the lake.
They probably just sit in the pen and not go out!! :rolleyes:

Just so you no the hen is the one who quacks in the wild, the male has a different sound that I can simulate but cant on the internet.At least with Mallards ....Dont let my dog get them...he wont killem he will just retrieve them... :rolleyes:

I do know that. I've done a lot of research.
The hens have a very loud brassy quack, while the drake is a quieter mumbled quack.
