My stepson is a senior in Douglas County. He recived his final Math grade and it was a 69.7% and the teacher did not round up. Does anyone know if this is a school policy or teacher's choice? When I was in high school I had the same situation in English and they did round up so I could graduate.

When I look at my son's grades online, they are automatically rounded up and down to show a whole # for the grade. He is a student at Hiram High. Seems like Douglas Co. would do the same. Where did you get his grade from?

Teacher's choice.
People. Planet. Profits. In that order.

Not the teachers choice. If it is 69.7 and you cant get anywhere with the teacher FIRST, then just go to the admin. It will be changed. Just make sure it is actually 69.7 and I can ASSURE you, the school will not fight that battle....100% sure!

The computer should round it up to a 70.

When I was in HS it was teacher's choice, although most did. A few would only do it if they thought you put the effort in.

The computer automatically rounded up my son's. Not the teacher. Teachers just enter the grades, computer does the calculations. :glare:

And when gets to college, his grade will be a 69.7, talking to the prof or the admins will have no effect. Even a 69.99 still will not be a 70. So in the real world, he's in for a big disappointment if it happens in college.
I fantasize about my dogs having jobs. I pretend that both of them are window cleaners and their kennel is their first starter home. I think the bigger dog is trying to bump off the smaller dog so he can have the kennel to himself. I know I have a problem, but don't animals have to earn a living too?

Dogs may not be our whole lives, but they make our lives whole.

A dog is not "almost human" and I know of no greater insult to the canine race than to describe it as such.

The more I see of humans, the more I admire dogs.

He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader.
He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.

The dog is a gentleman, I hope to go to his heaven, not man's.

In Douglas County the computer DOES NOT round up.....usually the rule is, if it is .5 or above then you would round up.

Ok, I'm gonna say it, as a jaded parent: without knowing the entire story, but going off my experience with teens who are getting ready to graduate and got a big ol' case of the "give a shiots" (senioritis), if son did NOT go to tutoring, study his behind off, bust his butt trying to understand the material, did not wait until the last minute to bring up a failing marks, if he turned in all of his assignments, or unless he has a learning disability (but really tried), etc., then why the frick should the teacher "round up" for him?

Where would we be without the agitators of the world attaching the electrodes of knowledge to the nipples of ignorance?

Although I don't think I ever asked a professor to round up a grade, I personally found Professors very open to working with those who put in the effort and showed an interest in their education.

I've had very few that would do so, and that was with doing extra work. Writing a paper, 5-6 pages to add 5 points to your grade out 800 points. Almost every prof I've had state explicitly on their syllabus that there is no rounding up at all. A 69.99 is still not a 70.
