Last night we had a stray come into our yard and I say a stray cause I'm pretty sure someone just dropped her off . We live out 61N and she is a yellow lab maybe 4-6months old, she was so sweet , no collar or tags. My main concern is we think she is covered with mange. I felt so bad for her she has black scabs all over her right side and some on her face I would say about 10 spots in all. We feed her some dog food and gave her some water , And she just hung around the yard. I have a yorkie that stays inside except to go outside to go potty . I'm a little worried the stray has mange and worried my yorkie might get it. I also would like to get her some help in treatment. We had been looking for a dog for my son and she seems so sweet and playful, we would love to keep her if we could help her get better, If anyone has any suggestions for vets , or willing to help us. Please let me know.

I would check Craigslist just to make sure no one is missing her. That is very nice for you to want to keep her. I use New GA ANimal Hospital but that may be too far away from you. I have also used East Paulding Animal Hospital when I was in that area.

Hopefully someone can give you a vet closer to your house. Good luck!

There are lots of mange treatments that are home remedy type treatments, but if you can afford it take her to East Paulding Animal Hospital, they are really great!

I use Dr. Koopman (770-439-9592)who is a mobile vet. Actually he has charged me less for his visits than what it would cost me if I went down the road to Dr. Lugars clinic. I use him because my dog is deathly afraid of cars.

Dr Judy, by all means. They are wonderful and resonably priced.
RIP sweet Ashton. We will never forget you.

There are many skin conditions that without a professional diagnosis look like mange. Some types of mange are not contagious.
I second Dr. Judy's practice in terms of price and service.
Thank you for helping this sweet baby!
Where would we be without the agitators of the world attaching the electrodes of knowledge to the nipples of ignorance?

PLEASE do not use the home "remedies" for mange! You can do more damage than good.
If it is Demodectic mange, it is treatable and NOT contagious. It is from the mother, bad nutrition and stress primarily.
If it is sarcoptic, it is scabies and is contagious to humans and dogs.
please take the pup in for a skin scrape
If is is mange, I hope it is demodectic! It cures pretty easily.
Good luck!

I understand it is not ideal, but sometimes it's no treatment or trying a home remedy.... I know someone who had no choice but to try a home remedy and it worked out for them. But again, a vet's opinion is always good IF it is a viable option but let's face it, for some people it isn't. :(
