You need to have your primary care pediatrician give you a referral and to make sure the insurance is accepted. Your pediatrician should have been handling this.

Good luck with that. Most of the time, I can get an appointment way before the office staff will get around it.

Unfortunately (or fortunately), we've never had to have one of those docs. So, I don't have one in my arsenal.

Most Pediatric Neurologists have a long wait. If you feel it's an emergency, then I would go to the pediatrician. If they think it's an emergency, they will call and try and expedite the process. One of my kids goes to a neurologist at Marcus (who turned her care over to the the psychologist), my other one goes to the neurologist across from Scottish Rite (I don't have the names infront of me)...both had a wait to get in.

We use Child Neurology, specifically Dr. Shub. Dr. Shub is an ADHD specialist. There are several drs in the practice. You can google them or look them up on whitepages.com (Child Neurology Atlanta, GA)
Have you asked if they would put you on a list to call if they have any cancellations? If they won't do that, then make the appt can call back once a week to see if they have had any cancellations.

I wish you the best.

Dr. Reisner at Egleston. Without details, he handled this hysterical mom with grace and ease.

In fact just last year, another Dr. gave me a scare during our annual checkup. She had me in a panic! I called Dr. Reisner's office and they had me in within the week. Luckily, it was nothing. And yes, I know it's our history that got us in so fast that time.

Good luck to you. It's a horrible feeling to know something's wrong and then have to wait for the MRI or CT.

We used Child Neurology Assoc. for years until my boys were no longer peds. Dr. Goldstein is the neurologist that was saw. They are a really great team, located across the street from Children's of Atlanta.

My 8yr old DD goes to Child Neurology Associates (http://www.childneuro.org/) for her migraines. She has only seen the CNP's, but they have been fantastic!! We didn't have to wait very long for an appt either.

Honestly: It is far about 600 miles but he is the best. Dr. Ben Carson @ Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, MD. Not a joke if it were my kid we would make the trip.

We used this group when my son was younger, it has been a few years. But they were very good at the time. Everyone I knew that went to them had good things to say about this group.

HIJACK! You mentioned above that your child has migraines. I do too. But I did not when I was a child. I take the triptans to abort, and I can take the stronger pain meds. I'm just wondering what they can do for your daughter since she is so young. I used to babysit (when my triplets were in kindergarten) a set of fraternal boy twins. One of the boys would get migraines. He is a fair skinned child anyway, so when he'd get sick he would be ghostly. He'd just lay on the couch with the little trash can next to him because he would also get physically sick. Bless his heart. I think he's outgrown them now, though, and he's 25 years old.
