I just finished Lost. Why, oh why, did I stick around after season 3?? I think that the producers took a liberal spin at retelling the stories in the Bible. And Hurley?? The meek inheriting the earth? I think so!

And 50 Shades of Grey is the absolute worst book I've ever read.

Now I realize that sometimes things can't live up to the hype - but it seems like nothing has lived up to the hype for me lately. I'm almost afraid to see Avengers.

Lost was one of the all time worst endings in TV history. The ONLY series that was worse was Deadwood....because it never ended. They just stopped it at the end of season 3.

I've never seen Lost, but I have to agree with you about Deadwood.

I remember everyone HATING the ending of Seinfeld. I loved it. :pardon:

I think that Lost is supposed to get people talking, thinking and guessing about things...that's just my thoughts - but it leaves SO many questions.

1. What was teh Dharma there for?
2. What do the numbers mean?
3. Why were they experimenting on polar bears?
4. Did the island and off island life happen simultaneously?

I'll admit that as I sit here there is still 10 minutes of the last episode left...but, I have a feeling that we won't get any answers.

I haven't found the book 50 Shades that interesting either honestly.
It's short on story and heavy on sex.
Like trying to read a porn movie.
It's erotic in the beginning, but after they've had sex 411 times by the time you're half into the book....it's starting to get old.

Maybe it's just not my kind of book.

I have a secret theory that maybe people who have REALLY enjoyed this book, were missing out on something in their life in the first place.
JMHO.

I think they just ran out of time, got cancelled and didn't have the time or story telling abilities to finish what they started. Lost that is.

I saw the Avengers last weekend, in 3D no less. First movie in five years at a theater. Very good and the special effects were awesome. The Chief (never a comic fan) enjoyed it after I briefed her on the characters. There were two I didn't know. Now, she wants to watch Thor.

Didn't 50 Shades start out as fanfic for Bella and Edward in Twilight?

Yep. This makes it even more disappointing.

Thanks, DG, et al - saved me a lot of time. I didn't have any desire (pun intended...snicker) to read "50 Shades" after I read a few reviews, because how many times can you read the same thing and it be interesting? But whatever. The "Twilight" connection made me even less likely to read it.

I mentioned it in your earlier Lost thread, but do yourself a favor and watch a much better series..."Breaking Bad".

Actually that is the worst of it all...they PLANNED it this way. The announced after season 3 that they were only going to have X amount more seasons.

I've heard that the writing in 50 Shades is atrocious. That's enough to keep me away. I don't generally like to read things I feel the need to edit.

I watched the first season of Lost...and then they lost me. I had no desire to play their silly game. I did watch the series finale when it originally aired, because my daughter was a HUGE Lost fan...it was unsatisfying, and I didn't even follow the series. Meh. :nea:

I started Deadwood, first 2 episodes, but I guess I will not continue. I hate when shows just leave things hanging with no real ending.

LOST was a total disappointment. Season 5 really did not make any sense and left more questions then answers.

Since "LOST" I have avoided any TV series that seemed to be going into the :ninja: “unexplainable” storyline, and any Bad Robot or J.J. Abrams show - I am NOT wasting time watching his shows! :nea:

NOW, I did stumble into one I may be sorry that I started ... but so far so good! :pardon:

My son was watching “Awake” in the family room while I was in the kitchen cooking ... (another show that I purposely did not watch.)The family room and kitchen are basically one open room... so I saw enough that I started asking him what was going on.

It is well written and has a double plot woven into two story lines every episode.

I watched all I had missed through “On Demand.” I like this show. My son said he heard that it will end (and wrap up) at the end of the season. We will see!

I started 50 Shades a couple of days ago when I finished the Hunger Games series. (which coincidentally I did not find that great) I made it about half way though 50 shades and just stopped reading. I am not a prude but there is only so much kinky sex I want to read in a book before there starts to be a plot and I could not find the story there at all.

I'm on the second 50 Shades. I'm at the point now that I just skim through all of the sex scenes. How many times can you read the same really cheesy porn scene.

I've been tempted to just lay it down. But I paid for that book so BY GOD I'm going to read it!

I'm doing the same thing. Trying desperately to find a story in there somewhere.
The writing really is awful.

Very, very few things live up to the hype for me. My solution? I don't get excited over much of anything. That way when something really is wonderful or great, I'm even happier about it. If something is disappointing, it doesn't bother as much. :)

I agree and that's what I dont get about avid porn watchers. It cant be THAT different. It's really the same thing...over and over.....and over..............................and over.
