My youngest cat, has a red rash around his bottom four nipples. I just noticed it while giving him a belly rub. I do not have the money for a vet at the moment, but if anyone has any advice about this I would really appreciate it. He slipped out the back door the other day and could not figure out how to get out of the fenced in backyard (thankfully). I have never seen anything like it.

If needed, I can attempt to get pictures tomorrow.

maybe he is allergic to grass?

My dog is allergic to grass and she does this.. she lives off of benadryl.

Coco had a red rash with what looked like pimples almost on her belly.
Took her to vet, got antibiotics and it's gone.

Hmm...possibly. I have a dog that is allergic to fleas and the redness looks a lot like what the dog gets.

No pimples, just redness. I hope it isn't rash staph! Finding a job is proving very difficult at the moment. :\

Fortunately it wasn't a form that humans would get.
She probably picked it up outside. It's commonly found.

Is he neutered?
Is he urinating normally?
Is he eating normally?
Is he drinking normally?
Any vomiting?
Any Diarrhea?
When did you first notice the rash?
Is it just red? Splotchy?
You did say there is no pustuals?

I know you probley answered these before. But, depending on the history there could be more going on. Cats are not usually allergic to grasses. I'm leaning more towards a UTI, or a staph issue.

Around 8-9 months.
Not Neutered. (Getting that way 6/9)
Eating and drinking normally.

They are on a special UTI food at the moment because my oldest had it once, I am not taking any chances.

Yes, that's what I mean. I'm also leaning to more of a staph infection. Easily taken care with antibiotics. You'll want to get it cleared up before the surgery. Granted a neuter isn't really an invasive surgery so to speak. But he will still be under anesthesia, and will have an open wound.

Are there any vets around here that do payment arrangements? This boy here I'd hate to give up, but I will if it is for his best interest. I found him in the back of a Walmart parking lot trying to nurse on his dead mother, he has been my rotten baby evey since. I hate the fact it is easy for them to slip out the door.

Could be a number of things:

You changed his food to the UTI special diet food. He could be having an allergic reaction to the food.

Could be ringworm or another fungal infection. If it's ringworm, you could dip the cat in a lime sulfur shampoo. It smells (and cats HATE it), but most cases will clear up with the dip. (Of course, there are different types of ringworm, you want to get it properly diagnosed to get the right treatment.) Apple cider vinegar has been known to work, too. Also, if it's ringworm, you really need to scrub the house down. Wash bedding in bleach and hot water, use a disposable damp mop to get up any spores, etc.

He has been here since August of last year and has always been on the UTI food. It is all I have fed since my $600 cat vet bill in 2008.

It has actually disappeared now... but I am still a little worried.

Sorry bout not getting back to you. I don't know of any vets that will do payments. Some times some will do them for their established clients. You could ask around.

Be careful with home remedies. Especially with cats. If this is ringworm, keep in mind that it is contagious to humans, as well as other pets.

I've been with my vet a while, and they still won't take payment arrangements from me.
Yeah, I've been wondering if I should isolate him to one room. I wouldn't feel right about it, but if it has to get done it has to get done.

I promise I haven't forgotten about this. Lots of football stuff going on.

IDK. I guess if it were me I would probably isolate him. Besides not being sure what it is exactly, it will also give you a chance to observe if it improves w/o going outside. Just make sure to wash your hands before your pet your other cat. If nothing else hopefully it will clear up before you have him neutered.
